Just tonemapped from a single exposure. Image was cropped to make it fit in well with the 800px size that's displayed the portfolio. Here's a 100% Crop from the Original

Sorry been a while, im shifting data from 1 drive to my new external. including photos.. Ill post soon. Some great images being shown here with many interesting ways to get the similar effect.

Day 3 (Sorry for the lack of posting I've been kind of busy. Here's days three and four.)



This was processed using wukong again from 6 original exposures. In PS then I simply boosted the contrast a bit with levels.

Day 4



This photo here has become one of my current favorites since I took it yesterday. The timing was perfect. The only thing I don't like all that much is the composition with the goose being so close to the top of the frame.

This was tonemapped in Wukong from a single RAW then brought into PS. In PS I bumped up the contrast a bit, sharpened the background layer very heavily then duplicated it added gaussion blur (11.2) and decreased the opacity of that layer by about 50%.

This was processed from a single RAW; again using Project Wukong. In PS I also added a bit of contrast, some soft focus, and color and tone adjustment.

In answer to why I do or make HDR's... This photo (of the nuthatch) represents the primary reason I create HDR's. The original exposure lacks very much the amount of detail that the HDR image has and which was present in real life. With HDR you can take a scene with high contrast and be able to represent all the tones correctly in order to retain the texture. Besides extreme contrast situations I simply like HDR because I like the "look" or style you can give to photos. I personally like some of the "cartoonish" looking images (my brother hates them). You can make some very realistic HDR's and some that are not very realistic; I like them both and both of them in my opinion have their own place.

These were some of my first shots with my new Canon 10-22mm. I love this lens. Keeps damn good sharpness even at 10mm. PP on this is HDRI software as well as some Lucis.

Ok, finally managed to shoot my first HDR (ever!) .... wohoo :)

I shot 3 exposures with + and - 2 stops

This is the original and the original with 30 seconds of CS2 work

I tried HDR in CS2 and it just sucked so I obviously am not doing something right!!

Original thought was a Siholette of the lad, but I was not paying attention to the shadows and the original was a tosser IMO. Let's see what can be brought out in this shot?

Single RAW converted to 3 TIFs (-1, +.67, +2), Passed through Dynamic-Photo HDR (Eye Catching mode), into PSP X2 where Clarify and Sharpening were done.

DOH! Looking at this resize, if I was going to go any further with the shot; I would use a smoothing brush on the Lads sweatshirt as all the lightening brought up some splotches.

2 older pics I just got to processing. Only tonemapping applied. I like the detail it brings out. Both shot in the metropolitan museum in nyc.

Extreme use of Clarify/Highpass Sharpen in PSP X2
Xero-Graphics - Soft Vignette (Transparency > sharp, inverted) Multiply blend layer to darken edges more.

San Diego dSLR Photo Group (just a gtg group) had their monthly meet-up at the Carlsbad Flower Fields today. From the Flower Fields you can see this windmill which inside is the TGI Fridays restaurant (where we ate)... was about the only thing to HDR from the shoot...(well I did get some nekkid garden statues that will be cool HDR but this is such a family site...doh!)

Anyways this is a simple shot, RAW > TIF in Canon DPP. TIF > Dynamic-Photo HDR, Eye Catching Mode (defaults), with Vignette and Orton (soft focus) added at the Tone Mapping stage. Really No touch through out, It could be a lot better but I have 100's of Renuculus flowers to go through...oh joy.

Day 6



This was an extreme contrast situation. Only do-able with HDR. I used 9 exposures 1 stop apart for this. Processed in Wukong and PS.

Day 7



This was taken at the same general area as day 1,3,4 and 6. Not real creative but all I had time to come up with for yesterday. Thank You!
