This is as much photo related as it is fitness related, so I thought I'd share. I used my husband's Coolpix 4300 to shoot these, my 5700 still isn't back from Nikon. *SIGH*

Using the right techniques you can make someone look a lot better in a photograph. I have always noticed on the before and after pictures that the before picture is very poorly done, and the after looks a lot better.

Wow, Andi! That's amazing. You hardly look like the same person. The after picture is beautiful. Hmm, I think you've just given me a reason to go shopping for new clothes!! :-D

What an interesting experiment. The links you gave were also well-worth the read. Thanks.

The after pic is really nicely done.

This is a trade secret which every man who has only his girlfriend/wife as a model soon learns ;)

Thanks everybody- glad you enjoyed. I really surprised myself with the "after" shot, it took several takes to get one that really did the job, but then I was pretty amazed at the difference between the before and after. I mean, I'm the same person!!

This little exercise really serves a number of purposes- shows some valuable portrait techniques, shows how easy it is to "scam" a before and after photo, shows that "beauty" really is only skin deep- and of course shows the importance of good diet and exercise!! When my body looks like the "after" photo all the time without me having to try, I'll be very happy :D

WOW!
Let me say, you are braver than me to show the before, but a great idea, and you look great in the after shot!
Congrats for getting in shape, it takes a lot of will power.

You know, in some ways I think it proves the opposite -- the health and condition of the underlying muscles, positioning of the bones, and the attitude (in both senses) of the person make a huge difference in how they look.

Great job all around with this project!

This link is not currently working. Has it been removed from the site? I wanted to show someone the pics.
