I know this is well after the fact, but I was just looking through some past challenge and noticed that the beginning of the end challenge had a 4th place finished that was shot with an iPhone. In the details of the shot under iso, shutter speed etc. each was listed as "shot with iphone so unsure".
Is this acceptable? Aren't we required to shoot with a camera that records exif data?

Apparently so, since the top 5 have to submit originals, and this finished 4th. It must have passed muster.

Not sure why they couldn't get the exif data, even my little W800i produces exif data.

Some time ago I had a dialog with the SC and they approved the iPhone. It captures the required exif data to survive validation.

The iPhone captures valid EXIF data. Just because the photographer doesn't know how to view the info, that doesn't mean it isn't there.

Oh geez, did you see the near mutiny over the Peeps challenge? We can't have any challenge where only a segment of the DPC community can play.

At least most people in the dpc-entering world have access to a cellphone. Peeps are harder to come by.

Just recently got a cellphone. Well, 2 months ago. Have made all of 3 calls with it and received only one. It has a camera and I have taken pics with it. Problem is I have no idea how to get the pic from the phone to my computer and there is nothing in the manual how to do so.

Hmm...what good was all that college if you can't figure out something even a kid knows how to do nowadays?

Use the phone to call a kid who can teach you how to do it. Problem solved!

For the record, I use Peep ringtones on my iPhone. F)(%ing great when your phone rings during a business meeting!

the iPhone does have exif data. :)

The EXIF on the entry is still intact:

# Camera Make = Apple
# Camera Model = iPhone

Oh, and neither my wife's nor my cell phones have a camera.

(on a side note, I have to hand it to Firefox - it crashed in the middle of posting this, but came right back up and restored all tabs, including this half-finished post!)

For all you professional iPhone photographers out there, how 'bout a nice zoom lens?

That's mad! It looks like it'd be the biggest waste of money though.
