This has been one of my pet peeves for years - especially with TV dinners. We all know what the stuff really looks like, would we really not buy it if it was pictured as expected?

Anybody remember the restaurant scene in "Falling Down" (Michael Douglas)? First he goes off about not getting breakfast then a short rant about how the food looks nothing like it does on the menu board.
I feel that way a lot. :)

Yep, that's what food stylists are for.

mcdonalds seems to be the most honest with their ad images.

the wendys salad - you add the chili and the chips yourself. so that could have been made sloppy intentianlly.

just saying...

Some of the reality photos were not too far off and would have looked reasonably close with better lighting and image quality. Others are the expected difference between careful advertising and fast preparation.

I would expect that the food at sit down restaurants might hold up a little better under this test, but the ad copy will always look better. I don't expect any different.

Sadly, the Fillet-o-fish is pretty close to reality. :p
