I guess I didn't notice before I got it, but My camera feels small and awkward without a Battery Grip now. I removed it for space purposes this morning and spent all morning thinking how small the camera felt. I immediately put it back on and probably won't remove it again. I was doing landscapes so I figured it wouldn't matter... Boy was I wrong! How many put there use a BG and if you do do you ever take it off?

That's 'cause it is small. ;oP

I just gave my wife my 400D with grip, she has got the 350D also with grip, I have a 5D with grip and have just got me a mint condition 10D... yep, WITH GRIP! no way I would use ANY camera without one. portrait buttons, extra battery power and extra size helps it fit nicely into my big ol' hands.

Always been attached. I have a hand strap anyway, so I end up with 2 bits and a strap between them if I take the grip off :-) Took me @1week owning the 20D before I bought the grip.... drove me nuts (okay, I was already nuts but it was very annoying just the same). I also don't have a neck strap on it, so it's great with just the hand strap IMO.

p.s - One of the best tips I know... Put an old spare CF card in that battery door holder that is in the grip and put the door somewhere you will remember when you sell the body (or sell with the grip attached when you lose it).... handy to know there is an emergency card inside the grip if you need it... just sayin.... I know you guys would never forget a card right... me neither :-)

I friggin LOVE using my MB-D10 on my D300. It's so convenient.

BTW: Anyone who runs AAs in theirs, check out some of those Sanyo Eneloop batteries! You won't regret it!

When I bought my Elan7e, I also thought it was pretty small, so I bought the grip.

For the prosumer class cameras (10D, 20D, 40D), the batter grip makes the camera too big, but I can see how your camera might seem small.

I after putting Camera Armor on my 20D, it now feels really big.

Try it for your 400D. It might make it feel bigger and it'll protect it.

If you need something else to make you feel bigger, I keep on getting these emails telling me how I can grow bigger and bolder. I'm afraid to open these emails tho.

I removed mine once... once.

I prefer the heavier weight, additional battery power, plus, it looks quite bad-a$$.

I bought my 300, put the hand grip on right away. Never take it off. I love it!!

D200's too big without a grip. I look through the little thing at the top of the camera to see what I'll be taking a picture of and then I press this button that releases the shutter. There's an awful lot of knobs and dials that have to be adjusted as often as not. I've not heard of a grip reducing that problem.

I've never even picked up a camera with a battery grip... :)

I have a grip on my 40D and can't shoot without it. It's just wrong to not have it on!

The only time I took it off to shoot was when I wasn't holding it. I wanted to lighten the camera so as to not break my boom rig that I built--see photo below. Click on the photo and you'll see my "rig", and the 40d without the grip.

Even if I didn't want the spare battery, I would leave it on mine. It makes people think it is a bigger (and thus, better) camera. :)

It kinda tickles me when another owner of a 300D approaches me and makes some comment about my "big" camera. :)

<<<<<<<-------- can't get a grip for my cam lol, come to think of it, it doesn't have one of those pop up flash things either!

Grip on all the time. It just feels better, and I NEVER think about batteries. :)

I used the Pentax K100D without a grip and it felt small and dainty in my gnarled old hands.

The 30D felt better, but with the grip it regained the balance, had two batteries, and looks good!! Much more stable to use on the move.

OK Cool so I am not the only one who thinks cameras were designed WAY too small. I agree w/ karmat I had 3 people say they were jealous of my camera yesterday at the botanical gardens, they were shooting w D350 and D400, one even had a d30

I find my D200 fits quite nicely in my hands without a grip, and it's plenty heavy all by itself.

But I can imagine the benefits of having one.

My hands are fairly small. I think the grip would make it too big to operate comfortably. I like my camera naked ;-)
