A last minute attempt that I thought was too lame to submit.
I made the right choice..
Just wondering if I could have made this any better to make it a suitable entry-
A network card held up against a light--
Handheld both the card and camera-- (yes I have a tripod and a remote release) but I was lazy and it was like 11:45 Sunday Night, lol..
Was it just doomed from the start or could it have been better, any thoughts--

The link takes me to a beautiful shot of a duck on a golden pond by a photogapher named Terry Gee, which I doubt is what you had in mind....

Probably give you a 5 or 6 on the shot. Might've done pretty good in Mundane if you cropped some of the top off. The detail rules in the Des & Eng challenge at least to me, describes something mechanical or mechanical looking (non electronic).

i think itd be cooler, if you metered on the black chips, and then had the green bright, and the white behind it even brigter.

I was going to submit something almost exactly like this but decided against it as well.

You guys should submit your photos, even if you think they will not do very well. You don't have anything to lose.

Funny you mention this, because I have taken a vow to try my best to submit to every possible challenge. The problem has been to afraid that it would get slammed and hurt my average, but then I got to thinking: It's not about the average score, it's about taking pictures and having fun doing it and comparing your work to others. So I am not going to let myself hold any shots that I have for a challenge back just because I think it won't do well and drop my average (which is low in the first place)he .

Goinskiing, you should enter and not worry about your average. And think of it this way -- if you lower your average, imagine how much more impressive your first blue ribbon will be!

I mean, c'mon people -- in the long history of civilization, does our AVERAGE on DPCHALLENGE really matter?

I like. Very clear and the green is nice. Not a very technical critique, but I would've given this a 6 or 7.

An alterative to not entering for fear of lowering your average (which I have fallen into the trap of doing too) is not entering a shot you like for fear of being made to hate it by the end of the challenge. Yes, you shouldnt have your emotions wrapped up into an image, and yes, you shouldnt have so little opinion of yourself that you seek approval from DPC voters about whether your image is good or not, but who can say they 100% follow logic? I have a portrait shot that I like a lot and just dont know if I should enter it both because I dont think it will score well and it will not be received well. Not because it's a bad shot, but because of such nitpicking voters. And who said DPC was easy!

You should just enter and be damned! I am always suprised when I enter stuff, like my current design and engineering one, which was not my original choice but its doing ok. My average is only 4.8354 but I just enjoy entering photos, after all that's one of the main reasons for being here.

P.S. I would have given you a 6 Tim
