Ah, right. I haven't looked at the DPL stuff in months. They took it down. The three divisions were based on 30-day averages of the team members.

Randomizing the teams is certainly one option. But many long-time members feel like that takes away from the fun of playing with people you've gotten to know. And many people like to go up against the very best, feeling that doing well in those circumstances tells them they've really grown.

I think both systems (made teams and random teams) have merit. In fact, that's how my Ultimate frisbee club works: we have two leagues, and people can choose which one to join. I think that'd be too much for DPC to do simultaneously, but maybe we could alternate.

As for me personally, I'll participate however it's organized. Heck, I only knew two of my seven Team USA teammates beforehand, and now I'm making new friends. :)

what is the status on DPCPrints2? I've been waiting and waiting to become a paying member again as soon as this happens!

I'm not sure what this overhaul entails, so its hard to be for or against it. I will give some items from my wishlist.

1. I would like yearly statistics available as well as overall statistics. I have been a member since 2004, and my average hardly changes at all. I would like to see how I'm doing for the year.

2. I would like to see what place my photo is currently in while voting is taking place. It would make the update button even more exciting (addicting?)

3. I would like a rating for everyone who submits to a minimum number of challenges. Chess players are rated, golfers are rated. There are many ways to do this. Then we would know who is number one at dpc.

Good luck with the overhaul

During internal discussion about DPL, a simple realization was made: We realized that we had much bigger fish to fry than simply how to run the second season of the DPL. We decided to refocus our efforts on overhauling DPChallenge. I can't say much now, but be sure that we'll make the necessary announcements when we have more information and are in a better place to release said information.

Just a side note, it shouldn't take anywhere near as long as DPCPrints2. :)

ETA: DPL is being heavily considered and will most likely be included in our overhaul.

Any updates on the overhaul?

I know, it's completely ridiculous for you to expect some sort of an update so soon... It's only been a little over three years after all... Damn, give the man some time.

This can only end in tears...

DPC Forums would be an excellent place to release the "said information."
I look fwd to seeing the new and improved DPC, esp if the scores only go down to 6, no more 1-5's.

I'm glad to see other's chiming in. After the "backlash" that I got the last time I sounded off about this I decided to back off for awhile. Consider this my version of a bump.

I say we get rid of all of the scores except the 6... That way most of us will see an increase in average and we will only piss of the "elite" of this site.

The 99% of DPC would welcome this proposal right? :O)

I along with some others are working on some additions to the site. They can be installed per user so if someone decides they don't want change then they don't have to install it.

Good luck with the dpc site update...... am looking forward to a new, user friendly & elegant environment. À la carte photo gaming for body slammers, ie. dpl is fine as long as it is in some form of preferences, along with other user options, where I would not have to look at them too often.
