I have been asked to take some photos of my husbands work colleague's 8 month old baby. The photos will be done at the family's home.
I have a Canon EOS 400D and was just wondering if anyone had any suggestions in terms of the best lighting to use? Would it be ok to just use natural lighting & the in-built flash?
Thanks in advance for any advice.

Kris

Unless you have an aftermarket diffuser don't use the on camera flash. Natural light with a fill reflector will give you your best result.

I have found that when in a fix, a tissue folded several times and held in front of the flash diffuses the harsh effects. Doesn't look very professional though. Usually only do this at home and on a personal level when I've left my speedlite at work. It may give you an idea to begin with and you may be able to make somehting that looks a bit better with different materials. Heard a ping pong ball works.

Thanks for the tips guys. Very helpful.
Might post some of the pics on here for some feedback once they are done...
