The spring is almost here and I've got the roof down on my ickle Brabus most days already. I'd like to make a little compilation of THE best ever rock intro's and would love your input here.
Ok, I'm old and am oft seen blasting the likes of Black Sabbeth (I prefer the Neo years sorry Ozzy), Deep Purple, Judus Priest (my current favourite) and do have a rather long driving rock compilation.
Links to you tube (etc) rock intros that I can create my compilation from would be most welcome :)
so beat this teaser

Sorry should have added, We will ROck you, that is one great intro
Also, if you can find it, Briam May on top of the Queens Palace doing God Save The Queen. Gets me everytime in goosebumps

One of my fave intros is Dio's Don't Talk To Strangers on Holy Diver. The whole album kicks ass for sunny hooning, but that intro is great (softly softly into 80s hair crunch).
Other favourite intros and other good hooning tunes:
Yes - Roundabout (one of the greatest basslines of all time imho)
Porcupine Tree - both Fear of a Blank Planet and In Absentia (albums)
Wolfmother - Dimension
Clutch - The Incomparable Mr Flannery
Rage Against The Machine - Take The Power Back for the ultimate teeth grinding, laptime beating, congestion killing RAWWWWR (and a good few points on the old license)
Red Hot Chili Peppers - Blood Sugar Sex Magik - the apex of their brilliance
Blues Traveller - Mountain Cry
Boston - Foreplay/Long time
Jeff Wayne - War of the Worlds (if you don't have this in the car, do it now!)
If you really want a videogame-like soundtrack to your drives, try:
Crystal Method - any, but the eponymous one is amazing
Splitloop - Here On Business
The Rogue Element - Rogue Rock
Plump DJs - Saturday Night Lotion

I can't. Judas Priest is also my all time favorite followed closely by The Scorpions.
I didn't know there were any of us left who really appreciated the likes of Judas Priest.

I'm headed down a different direction / definition of rock here, but nothing (IMO) beats the lead in to Pink Floyd's Time. Especially with quad speakers and a pitch-black room.
I would add Steppenwulf's Magic Carpet Ride to the list, and Chicago's 25 or 6 to 4.

Any live version of Deep Purples- Smoke on the water
…. Better yet, Pink Floyd’s- Another brick in the wall, the intro had a separate name, “Happiest days of our lives”.

Hey, thanks for all the suggestions peeps, loads there I'd not heard and a few classics that returned to my diminishing memory. Yes! they are near the top of my list and Sweet! lets just say I had a mixed up few teen years. Went from the likes of Uriah Heep/Judas Priest etc through the glam rock era then moved away from 'the norm' and into funk where I soon learnt that George Clinton appeared top be in all the best funk bands!
I do like most music and befitting with my age am oft listening to classic FM :) however am a different beast with the roof down and glad to say am back with 'real' rock :)
Keep the suggestions coming for my intro medly (and links always help).

I must admit, it's pretty darn cool to know that there are other Porcupine Tree and Dream Theater fans here. Nice to know I'm not alone. :-)
Priest's "Hellion/Electric Eye" is still one of the coolest ever. Iron Maiden's "Number of the Beast" is also right up there.
Symphony X's "The Odyssey" is worth a mention. If you like prog and classical music, then check them out. I would also include "The Divine Wings of Tradgedy" from Sym X.
Tesla has a number of cool intros too. "Little Suzy" and "Edison's Medicine" come to mind. I also like "Winter's Call" from Badlands.
