Okay so the name and idea may be a bit lame, but I had a lot of time on my hands so I decided to arrange this new DPC tournament here in celebration of the 2008 Summer Olympics this year(despite it being in August).

So here are the requirements for entering The DPC Olympics:
- Both members and non-members may join

- Teams will be based on what COUNTRY you are born in. For example, if you were born in United States you will be automatically placed on the USA team. (no exceptions) :P

- Each team must have at least 5 people and at most 7. The members will be selected on a first come first serve basis. The first 7 people who post on this forum saying they would like to participate fills the spot. If you are unable to retrieve at least 5 people for your team/country, then you will not be able to participate :(

- Since both members and non-members may join this tournament, the challenges will be Exclusive Open Challenges

- During the challenge you must have at least 4-5 people in your team participate, or it is an automatic forfeit. The winning team will be based on the average score comprised of the participants in the challenge.

- For the format of the tournament: If there are 4-7 countries only participating then it will be a round-robin tournament. If 8 or more then most likely it will be an ELIMINATION one.

-An alternate may only be a replacement. If one of the members of your team quit the tourney for some reason because they feel they can't participate in many of the challenges, then the alternate comes in. Essentially, the alternate cannot be used unless someone from their team OFFICIALLY resigns their position.

- The Deadline for entrants will be Febuary, Friday the 15th.

- First Challenge will be February 20th.

- Draws will be selected Randomly (No seeded teams)

- Top 3 finishers will receive custom made avatars (they won't be fancy :P) But still fun.

If you wish to join, please also post which country you are representing. I will be updating this post with countries and their members :)

Update: There will be team captains for each country, any member can volunteer or be voted for by their fellow team mates. The team captain is responsible for making sure that each of their team mates are committed to the tournament. If one of them is not, the team captain has the option to remove his/her team mate from the competition. If an alternate is available, a captain may use the alternate as a replacement.
A Bolded Name means Team Captain

Update

Okay guys, I am unsure what kind of format this tournament should be. It would rather be ELIMINATION or ROUND ROBIN. Or I can arrange some sort of POOL system. But I have no idea how to do that, so if we did do a POOL system, I would need lots of help arranging it and doing all that mathematical statistical mumbo jumbo :P

Update

Hey guys, courtesy of Dirt_Diver, we now have a nice spreadsheet of the tournament :)
//www.treasureshackonline.com/DPC_Olympics.htm

Rules
1. All teams must have at least 4 members enter the challenge. In addition the top 4 scores will be calculated under the weekly average for the team. I’ve decided to use the top 4 because this allows everyone to bring their “A” game to this tournament. Also, a lot of teams have 2-3 great players, and they can simply dominate the entire competition. This is a team effort, so 2 or 3 players shouldn’t be doing everything.
2. In terms of the point system, I’ve decided to adopt a simple one with giving a certain amount of points for the top 5 teams.
1st – 10
2nd – 6
3rd – 4
4th – 3
5th – 2
If you guys have a problem or questions about the system, please feel free to e-mail me.
3. The competition will be 8 weeks worth of challenges. The challenges will be
ONLY Exclusive Open Challenges, since some teams don’t have members that belong to DPC. The first challenge will be on February 20th 2008. We are NOT entering the current challenges (Leading Lines, and Peace) we are entering the ones that come out on February 20th.
3. After 8 weeks, the top 3 teams with the highest amount of points will receive medals that they can put up on their profile J
4. As team captains, it is your job to inspire your teammates and make sure they participate every week or nearly every week.
5. To check out results of your team and the other teams, go to this link //www.treasureshackonline.com/DPC_Olympics.htm courtesy of Dirt_Diver

Dates
February 20th, February 27th, March 5th, March 12th, March 19th, March 26th, April 2nd, and April 9th.

Please e-mail me back if you have any concerns

Thanks, Jon

I haven't been as active but put me down as an alternate for the US team. I'm sure you can find 7 better to represent the US.
