It figures, I finally broke down and bought a digital camera and then two months later Minolta announces they are finally going to build a DSLR. I quess I'll just sell the DMC-FZ10 when the Minolta hits the market so that I can stay on the same platform.

Nice to have another quality player in the DSLR field. And nice to have another dpc'er. Welcome Jim. Looking forward to seeing what that FZ10 will do until the 7 comes out.

I understand how you feel. I just bought a Rebel two weeks ago. Now I have a bunch of Maxxum lenses sitting in the closet. I'll probably buy Canon lenses since I don't feel like waiting a year for Minolta's camera. I wonder how many Maxxum/Dynax system users abandoned ship while Minolta took its time getting a DSLR ready?

I didn't know Minolta was doing a DSLR, I'm am soooo excited to hear the news. I love my Dimage 7i and my Maxxum film camera. I'm going to go read about it now...thanks for the info. BTW, when I got my 7i, I was under the impression that there wouldn't be a Minolta SLR so I was looking at Canons. I'm glad I spent my tax refund on studio equipment instead of that Canon. I would be miserable right now if I had :)

Coolhar- I'm still waiting to see what the FZ10 will do to. It's main use so far has been taking pictures of my kids indoor soccer games. I'm using a Metz 44 series flash with the FZ10 set at ISO 100 and I'm not happy with the results. The autofocus is much slower than I am used to with my Minolta systems. It's also limiting to not have a flash that works off the camera's metering system. I have to find a happy balance between getting the distance I need or washing out a close shot. I can't wait to get some time outside with the camera in good light. After years of shooting Velvia I still don't particularly like the quality of the digital world. Hopefully as my photoshop skills improve I'll enjoy it better.

I hear ya jamesdak. It will be interesting to see how you feel by the time the outdoor soccer season in full swing. Your film to digital transition is one that had about a 20 yr gap for me so I can't relate directly. I know Velvia only from images I've seen on the internet, seems to get excellent blue skies in full sunlight pics. I'm guessing you were shooting with Minolta SLR and probably have some investment in lenses that would work with the digital Maxxum.

Yep, I been using Minolta exclusively for about 15 years. The digital camera was bought mainly to shoot the kids sports. It will be easier and cheaper to print off the good digital shots vs burning and developing a lot of film to get that one special shot.
