Anyone know when Wukong will be available? My beta expired, and my only other option now is the new Photomatix for $99 (which I'll have to do asap, if this isn't ready) :o\

Go back to their site. There's a next beta out for testers that just came out recently. If you're registered with them it's in the forum.

Not your only option... I've been using the 39 buck Dynamic-Photo HDR by media chance, which I found way easier than the 99 dollar one.

If you have questions we should start another post so we don't mess up this beta thread here. I missed the beta myself and ran across this app.

Keep in mind I know very little about HDR, just playing now. One is a raw save 3 times and the other a single jpg (fake it til you make) tone mapped image.

true, don't want to hijack the thread. however, your results look fantastic. i'll give the trial version a runaround.

Sorry guys about the beta version expiration and thank you for the patience.

We are in the final stages of testing the newer test version and it will be released on 4/2.

As for the price, we will soon start a discussion on the support forum. Join the discussion to get your opinion heard.

They are two totally seperate programs (that don't need each other), when I downloaded mine I PM'd the OP of this thread. I recently got an update email but the only link it has is this one but I'm not sure that is all you need. I love the program...good luck.

Thanks for the link. Yeah, I'm new to HDR and wanted to try the 2 progs vs each other and CS2 to see which works best for me .... no idea what I am doing (have printed a couple of threads from here to guide me) but hope to have a play next week :)

We always have at least one unexpired beta version out there. We have to expire them because we do not want people to continue using the older version when new one is available. A new version is coming out in 3 days.

The price is tentatively set at $69. And the initial release can be expected around mid-May.

The software has been officially released. Here is the mail from the developers-

Hello Everyone,

With your help, Essential HDR version 1.0 is now officially released!

Two versions are available. The Community Edition is fully functional and FREE, with one limitation that the result can only be saved as images less than 1 M pixels. The download link is: //www.imagingluminary.com/Download.aspx

The Standard Edition has no such limitation. To thank for your support and help during the development, the first 1000 copies of the Standard Edition will be available at a special price of $48.99, 30% off the regular price. We hope this special sale can cover our beta testers and friends.
//www.imagingluminary.com/Purchase.aspx

Other than very special sales to only very limited group of users in the future, Standard Edition will never be available at a lower price than $48.99 to the public. Take advantage of the current sale on Standard Edition before it runs out! Or, download the Community Edition and give it a test run today! We provide free upgrades of bug fix and other upgrades to all 1.x versions. You can always come back to the support forum for questions, bug report, product develop announcements, and other discussions.

They have also send a promo code for a 50% discount (Final Price $25) valid till August 15. If any one of you is interested in buying it you can send a PM and i would send the promo code.

Downloaded last night...works very nice...and very easy to use.

Well its finally out, its been a pretty quick turnaround time considering from the first beta (alpha) version I tested. The product at this moment in time is very stable and does a fantastic job of tonemapping. However, if you are used to Photomatix then the differences you will notice are the output from 3 or more images is a true representation of what HDR should look like, not the cartoony look that photomatix kicks out, now thats not to say some of the cartoony images that PTX generates are stunning, they are, but Wukong, sorry, Essential HDR will produce good balanced realistic images. Also, you will benefit from consistant colour across the board, no haloing or muddy dark pathces in the sky..

Also, with this release they have nailed the auto-align algorithm, seriously it does a fantastic job.

Tonemapping of a single JPG is also a great fun to use, the detail revealer can generate some stunning imagery, just go easy on the sliders!

There are still a number of features that are pending implementation which I feel would benefit the software, top of my list would be integration into Photoshop by means of a plugin.

Anyway, download it and give it a try, its a great piece of software, I just hope they have the marketing in place to get it out there and get it well known!

Yeah I agree with Mark... it seems to be an excellent piece of software and one that I think will definitely take off if the marketing is in place. I think I'll have to purchase a full copy now!

How do these 3rd party products compare to the HDR capabilities in CS3? Better, worse, about the same?
