$1,000.
Now I don't have to keep my "lighting kit budget" on the 'cheapskate' end :)
Any good recommendations that won't necessarily deplete the funds to $0? |

In the recent Podcast, I expressed a wish simply for more smiling people. I gave but one gift this year, and the gift I received in return was exactly what I wished for - no, actually it surpassed it.
Sure I received a few meaningful things from some friends, and to those that know who you are, Thank You!
To top it off, on Christmas Day, my daughter dropped by the shop and delivered one of my favorite things on the planet to eat - Cheesecake!
This is her first ever Cheesecake, and made it a double-layer at that! I've eaten many a fine Cheesecakes in my time, but this was truly one of the best I've ever had, and am still having - MMMMMM! Then off for a drive to visit my next door neighbor and one of my best friends for some coffee & chit chat.
Later on that evening, I was told I was going to her place for dinner, of she was bringing it me, so off I went for a drive and had a fabulous pork chop, a baked potato & a salad for dinner. (desert was waiting for me back at the shop *wink*) Heather even had a fresh pot of coffee waiting for me too! (something that has never been done for me in my own home)
Thank You Heather & thank you friends, it was a perfect day.

we didn't really do gifts this year (two years ago I got a Volkswagen Beetle, last year my K10D )
But I did get to order some goodies for my camera which should be arriving tomorrow. And I'm still looking around for a nicely priced 50mm-F1.4.
with an omnibounce of course.
and yesterday we spent a good 3 hours at IKEA, bought some lovely new 8 piece china, new cutlery and my favorite: new cast iron pots and pans. Yeey!! (love to cook as well :-P )and some other bits and bobs for the kitchen.
and a corner shaped 'wardrobe' (open with some shelfs) for the bathroom, but in the chaos we forgot to put it in the car!! I'm gonna drive over there today, hopefully they noticed we left it behind, otherwise I'll have to buy another one. Tiny luck...it wasn't too expensive.

I got many things but the ones I asked for and got were...camera hand strap and a right angle viewfinder. I really wanted that view finder because I am getting old and laying on the ground to see through the finder is killing my knees. (and requesting the new E3 just wasn't an option lol) My wife couldn't understand why I wanted a viewfinder that you have to look down through lol, she just doesn't get it...but I did so all's good.
(p.s. oh and the wife is mad cause when she ordered the viewfinder from B&H it was $130 and is now $115...oops) |

I got a Bath and Body Works gift set from my sister (Japanese Cherry Blossom...my favorite), a silver cross necklace, an ornament, a dreamcatcher, and some pretty earrings from my kids, a blanket, scarf, and huge gift set of Vanilla and Cream body products from my sons' Sunday school teacher, a beautiful ring and earring set from my mother-in-law, a set of comfy-cozy PJ's from my mom, some "trash" made by my oldest niece (the kind with chex mix and melted almond bark...yum!), a stress ball and two packages of beautiful scrapbook paper from my niece-in-law, and a neck pillow from one of my other nieces.
My most favorite thing I "got" for Christmas, however, was being with my three boys at my sister's house with her, her husband, their three kids, their eight grandkids, and everyone being happy and together. The eleven children had the living room looking like a gift-wrapped tornado had come through, but that was so much fun we didn't care. I'll have to post some pictures...it was a crazy good time!

My boyfriend gave me a D40X. I think I will keep him. I have only ever had a little cheap digital camera, so this one is going to take a little time to get use to. But I am looking forward to getting back into taking photos. |
