A reminder to put safety first when attempting to get that perfect closeup shot.

This is why I invested in a nice telephoto lense.

The update is worth the read. I am astounded at what people will do, putting themselves in dangerous situations, for a photograph. This man paid the ultimate price. Oh, the perils of photography. A telephoto would have been a good choice here.

kind of sick - but this made me chuckle...

Is that why those fences and stuff were there? i hate it when people die in front of their loved ones because they were being stupid.

^ Too bad no good Samaritans were there to lend a helping hand!

That was pure stupidity. Anyone in their right mind would know they were doing the wrong thing. Even the zoo staff were telling him. A reminder to us all that rules are set in place for a reason.

I nominate this guy for the Darwin awards.

It may have been stupid, but a macro of tiger tonsils might've been a blue ribbon for Perspective V. ;-P

There goes another great candidate for the coveted Darwin Award...

Yeah, but too bad we have that rule about PPing the image yourself... :-D Hard to use Photoshop when you're armless and/or dead.

Wonder what happened to his camera??

Maybe it is just a matter of time before it appears?

I first saw this as "tiger", singular, and my first reaction was "Did he use his fists, or a wedge?"

Back to your regular discussion now..

Thats one bipolar kitty. I guess he was'nt ready for his closeup.

I thought about the Darwin award too. But he is not eligible because it said he has a son. I think you have to die before you've had a chance to pass your stupid genes on to offspring in order to win.

Another left-handed camera bites the dust. I have tried to shoot left handed but it is not an easy task. What were the cats playing? This little piggy went to......

I don't know, but I see they recovered the photographer's final image:

The story reminds me of a (very good) movie "Cat people" or something like that. Wasn't that in that movie that a cat tears off someone's arm from the shoulder? I guess the Darwin award candidate did not see that movie....
Nastassja Kinski rocks!

Edit to add a link to the movie...
