Old Plymouth that I found in the woods behind my cousins house. Originally the sky was completely blown out so I added a grad filter in CS3 to tone it down, along with a slight vignette. I then created a new layer, converted it to B&W, and then reduced the opacity to help desat the colors and give it an antique feel.
With regards to the members with more limited connections, I have linked to the smaller image! :)

The subject is a good find. Not enough Wow-factor, there are many in junkyards all over. Making it distinct-looking and telling a story would make it more appealing.
Some sunlight reflecting off some shiny chrome part of a new-car. A strategiclly place mirror or crystal-glass hanging from the rear-view mirror, could bring in light-f/x. Cropping to emphasize one eye/headlamp in the 3rds area. More contrast in tone. Added elements to show a contrast (juxtaposition), like a brand-new tire. or part of one. Some severed, fake Halloween appendages, or just a torn seatbelt swaying from it.

Can you just put the thumbnail here and then link to your portfolio and include some more information. Did you desaturate it to look all pale like this? The sky seems overly gray. What did you want me to look at especially? the empty "eyes" of the dead car? The bullet holes? Compositin wise you have nothing in the center and nothing in any of the "rule of thirds" focal points.

Not to usurp the SC, but I think you should provide a link to the image next time. 500k is quite large for some of our dialup limited members. You could also link to the smaller thumb on Flickr as they prefer you to do. Nice image. I like the perspective but there doesn't seem to be a wide range of tones. If this site is near you go back and take more shots at different times of day and maybe even at night with flash. I'd like to see one with a flash inside the hood and light streaming out of the bullet holes! Or you could drape a nekkid chick across the hood for the next nude challenge. ;)

I dont think they are bullet holes. I would expect bullet holes to be round and symetrical. I suspect those holes were made by vandals. For some reason they remind me of the holes that can openers make in like cans of oil.

Very valid points! I do agree with your comments to the composition. As far as the other questions. Yes, I wanted to have a look of an old, washed out picture to help accentuate the age of the car. In photoshop I created a black and white layer, adjusted it for exposure/contrast/etc. And then I decreased the opacity of the layer to allow a little color to seep in from the background.
As far as the sky, well it was a grey and overcast day, there was no sky to really speak of. As it was, it was blown out and lacking of any detail what so ever. In the original shot it was a big bright highlight right there at the top of the picture which drew your eyes right to it and killed the shot for me. So I did what I could to tone it down and bring the attention back on the subject of the car.

Im glad you liked the perspective, I actually lay down on my stomach for this shot in the cold, wet dirt!
The site is not anywhere near me, but is near my cousins house who is about 4 hours away from me. I will have opportunities to go back so if anyone have any suggestions to improve the composition, nows the time! ;) Other than the nekkid thing, I'll consider that one but I kinda suspect the hood probably wouldnt support any weight judgeing from the condition of the rest of the car which is falling in on itself. |

Hey! Well, these old cars happen to be a passion of mine, and so I thought I would share some of my car shots for you to look at. Some people don't get it, but there's something mysterious about finding an old vehicle like this. A car is such a huge purchase, and just to think that at one time, that vehicle was a focus point in someone's life, is just magical to me. Anyway, take a look!
