I want to know how long it takes your system to open(and ready to use) photoshop cs3.

I have a new system that seems fast. You don't need a stop watch just estimate. Mine is about 3.5 seconds.

Macbook pro with 3 GB Ram.. CS3 on a first boot takes about 8-10 seconds loading all my filters but if i close it and re-open it then it will boot in about 3 secs.

I have the full version of CS3-E, takes 8 seconds.

About 10 seconds on a fresh start. If it has been loaded then closed, about 4 seconds. It's a LOT faster to load than CS2 was...

2 ghz intel imac with 2gb ram takes about 12-13 seconds first time around and less than 2 seconds subsequent times. However, it is bridge that is annoyingly slow with over 10 seconds each opening.

This is why you need lightroom... Bridge is cool but very slow to load I agree. I use lightroom a lot for my RAW that I will be printing large.

Thanks for this thread, guys. It's the ammunition I need to prove to the family that I need a new computer :)
CS, a minute or more, IF I don't have ANYthing else open. The other night I had CS and the folder of my vacation pics open, tried to view a pic in the folder and froze everything :(

>5 seconds.

AMD Athlon 64 - 3200+ 2GHz w/2Gb RAM

Nothing overly special from the system perspective...I think the key is the drive setup:

OS Drive (Vista) - 70Gb SATA 10,000RPM WD Raptor
App Drive - 300Gb SATA 7,200RPM
Data Drive - 500Gb SATA 7,200RPM

Hey, Marac, have you seen the new Bridge in CS3? It's so much better that it's one of the reasons to upgrade.

I'm on an eMac and it takes about 20 seconds to launch CS3 and about 12 seconds to relaunch it.

I just installed lightroom a few days ago. So far I am unimpressed. I like to adjust in the converter much better. I'm really just getting started though. Keywording is what I am hoping works out for me.

I know it's not CS3, but my CS2 takes a solid 2 or 3 minutes to open on my Macbook Pro...not to mention Bridge never worked first nor last...

So if yours works congrats! haha

30 seconds with an amd 2800

One thing that speeds up CS3's load time is that it seems to not load fonts on load, but rather only when you use the text tool (which does take longer to get going the first time you use it). Don't know why it took Adobe this long to figure that out.
