Hey guys, can anyone comment on the fall colors around Shenandoah National Park, VA today/very recently? The foliage reports I've seen say they're past peak, but they also say the same for Delaware and the colors look to be in their peak here... If they're still good, I'd like to drive down tomorrow, so any help is appreciated.

Thanks!

My dad and my (new) step-mom *just* went through there last weekend on their honeymoon and they said the color was GORGEOUS. Don't know how long it will last, and if it rained hard or had high wind since last weekend, a good bit of the color might well be gone.

Hope this helps!

i went through there from winchester down to warrenton wednesday and it was spectacular. maybe a little past peak, but, all the same, well worth the trip.

Well, the foothills are jumping with color right now. I took this about 30 minutes past sunrise on the way to work this morning (couldn't resist). BTW - No color sat boost on this at all. Unbelievable color!

I'd say it's worth the trip. :-D Of course, I'm not sure what it looks like in the higher elevations. This spot is probably 30-40 minutes from the actual mountains.

Good luck!

Everyone expected this area to have a dull Autumn this year because of the drought, but we got just enough rain to create a beautiful late color burst. Trees are at their peak right now in the DC suburbs of VA, so they're probably at their peak (or maybe inching past) in the Shenandoahs.

Thanks for the advice guys, I didn't get anything as nice as yours Barry, but I'm happy with a few of mine. The colors in the lower elevations were beautiful. Unfortunately the trail I picked was higher up and was almost entirely devoid of leaves. I'll post some a bit later.
