I was given a link to this website from a friend and thought it was really great, and I wanted to pass it along. This is a great way for us to say thank you to our troops and it doesn't cost you a dime, and takes 60 seconds of your time.

Lets Say Thanks

Our troops? you certainly mean the US troops...
please remember that not ALL people on this site are US americans and not ALL people here share your support of what's going on in middle east...
thanks

good catch, a lot of US americans do not support what is going on in the middle east. However, we still support our troops, because most of them do not like what is going on either.

If it wasn't for "Our Troops" You Europeans would be living under a fascist dictator. You would never be brave enough to fight yourselves.

And if it weren't for the Europeans, we Americans would be singing "God Save the Queen" and not the "Star Spangled Banner"

I believe that debt has been paid........ With interest..... God bless America and our troops and all the troops from every country that are helping fight terrorism, where ever it manifests.

I suspect users from Germany, and Dresden in particular, would have a slightly different perspective on that period in history. Similar probably to the users who currently live in Iraq or Iran.

It's not about tit for tat though, is it?

While it's true that the American military swung the balance in WWII, it's not like the US exactly jumped into the fray at the beginning to confront the Axis powers and defend our European allies. For some years, the US was content to follow a policy of Isolationism and let Hitler take over most of Western Europe slaughtering hundreds of thousands in the process.

That's not to say, I'm not thankful for the hundreds of thousands of US troops that put on the uniform and stand up.

It's the politicians, diplomats and other civilian leaders that can't work it out that, ultimately, are the ones who let us all down.

Let's get back to the original subject before this gets moved/locked ... the discussion of the history of warfare and its sociological consequences can continue in another thread if you wish. Thanks. :-)

While I do appriciate everyones opinion, can we please not turn this forum into a political debate. I do sincerely apologize for saying "our" troops when not everyone on this site is American, I was just simply quoting the website's name, and I do apologize. If you would like to say thanks to the troops overseas, please follow the link, it is a great thing they are offering. Thank you.

Distinctly American but it seperates the policies from the humanity.

The Human Element

My thanks again to those who sacrifice possibly everything. Happy Thanksgiving to all.

I think it's appropriate to make note of anyone's sacrifice and commitment to their country when called.

I'm from a generation where all too many scorned their country's call, then denigrated those with the appropriate patriotism to unquestionably put themselves in harm's way for the opportunity to preserve freedom.

I'm never too politically oriented to *NOT* thank the faceless, nameless regular people who are your and my, children, relatives, nieghbors, and friends whenever, and wherever they may be in conflict from their country's call.

May they return home safe.

Well you did! And if I were you I would take a history lesson before you start running your mouth.
