What a great idea - please add me to the apprentice list as well if it's still going. |

Now I'm on the mentor list, if there's anyone willing to give me a try - send me a PM.

I thought there was a mentoring programme in place already. I seem to remember a thread a year or so back so what happened there ?

I seem to remember that was not a one-on-one mentoring thing. More like a class of students and one teacher.

just ended up in threads that were far too messy..IMHO
This way takes it off site (if required) and people should be able to benefit a lot more. |

Okay, I've agreed to work with justamistere in a more free manner where we guide one another and with keibo84 as a mentor.
Hope this is all cool?
Any news on private threads or anything as yet? |

I really think the spirit of this was to have one on one, not a mentor with a group of students discussing each others work, obviously its entirely upto you how you do it, but I think it just gets messy when it comes to voting and stuff. keep it personal, keep it intimate, thats what I was thinking. |

I'm being lazy, and I don't want to read the WHOLE thread - how does this work? Does one apply for either mentor/apprentice? |

With your track record, you should be a mentor. Some people are both. |

I'd like to try being a mentor. Don't know how good I'd be, but I wouldn't mind trying. How can I apply? |

You will be hunted by stalker like me, and will be questioned. End result should be me ended up learning something.
(assuming you are mentor).
If you are apprentice, you will be hunting, some poor people will be hiding.
The best rule is there is no rule, its all jungle out here. |

You just did - once Simms sees your entry, you will be on the list. You can either pick someone off the apprentice list and PM them, or wait for someone to ask you for help.

hipychik Terry did you get my PM? I'm not sure if my PM's are going out since I haven't received any replies to 4 different PM's I've sent out.
Simms - Mark, could you move hipychik to the mentor list and have me with her please? Thank you! |

We all just kinda found each other - either through PM's or posting here. I am a learner with Bassbone teaching. He has 2 other apprentices as well. I opted for Bassbone because I noticed all the comments on my photos from him. I guess you can scroll through the list of us looking for help - Jeeze...anyone would be thrilled to have you mentor them.

This is definitely something I would be interested in. I would like to be an apprentice, if anyone is willing to take me.
I am especially interested in a few areas:
Portraits
Adding more power to my Black and White conversions
HDR
I use CS3, and shoot with a D200 or D70. My photoshop skills are all self taught though, and I see this as my area of improvement.

If you people are serious enough , what I actually want to see is a small note or report about what did you learn. And please write things those are useful to others too.
For example lets say me and my mentor had discussion about sharpening. An issue many wants to master and learn. So if I think I learned something useful, if possible, I shall write down a note about what I learned. Other would also learn. If everyone just write about one thing, then consider this whole thread a big success.
I am sure I will write about few things I am learning.
You could put it in tutorial threads, if you wish.

Count me in!
I don't believe I could be considered a mentor and I'm not really looking to be an apprentice. So not having read the entire thread is there anyone that wants to be paired with someone that is an equal? It would be more of a learning experience for me to play both roles with another person.

Yikes! If you decide to offer yourself up for mentoring, I'd love to get some of that B.C. mojo. |

I'd be happy to be a mentor if anyone's interested. JerseyGenie asked me to do it, so she's on my list, and TCGuru asks me for help from time to time, but I can take one or two more if you'd like.
Actually, can I be both a mentor and an apprentice to someone else?
Oh, btw Mark, you have noraneko listed twice in the mentor list.
