Hahaha, I watched the first three lessons so far. Damn you Joey! I did an outdoor portrait session last weekend and now I want to re-edit their favourites with some of the techniques you showed for extra pop.

Very handy techniques I wish I'd known about already, they would have saved me a lot of time and grief. And contrary to many peoples' beliefs, they don't need to lead to the grungy style at all, but can just plain improve the shots.

Simple ways to improve on the ways I typically shoot. I have another portrait session this coming weekend and I'm looking forward to it a lot more now, I'm inspired.

Can't wait to watch the rest of the lessons. So far I find them very easy to watch, but I'll be going though them again and again. Great techniques and I find it most valuable to actually be able to watch the tools move around on the photos, that's half the learning experience for me.

I'm stoked & inspired! I'm glad I got this just for the first three lessons!

:-)

So... you think can finally get that blue ha?

We'll see, you get a blue in one month, using Joey's technique, that will be the best advertisement for his DVD

I think you should give me at least six weeks, as I'll be travelling for work for at least two weeks pretty soon. ;-P

I wish him all the luck, but as others have said or implied the DPC is no place for commercial advertising. If the SC allows his advertising here it sets a bad example that could allow the flood gates to open potentially ruining the forums with every Tom, Dick & Harry selling their wares. And if they don’t allow others then the SC is playing favorites. Either way the posting should be removed.

I have to disagree. Joey has been a long standing member of this community and has a lot of his "roots" here. He has also been very active in the community (until he got too big for us ;-P) and has shared many helpful tutorials and pointers throughout the years.

He has progressed from this

to this.

Joey has competed in 147 challenges and accumulated a total of 10 ribbons and has made nearly 3000 comments. He has 1,165 forum posts and very very few of those are self-promotional. He came to DPC as a 14 year old with a camera and passion for photography and has grown into a very respectable young man with quite a talent for his craft. If he wants to give back to the community, I say "good for him". Those who aren't interested in purchasing his DVD can just move on. Personally I can't swing the money for it just yet, but it's a good resource for those who are interested. Let's please not shoehorn him into some faceless spammer category. He's proven his worth here and should be allowed to continue down his path with the SUPPORT of the community who in some way has helped him along his journey thus far.

My $0.02 USD.

300 is a tad bit expensive but at the same time are you willing to invest hours and hours into photoshop to learn different techniques. Many people are not and think its worth the money. His techniques and styles are not rare and i am sure he would admit that. Just take the time like he did and learn. His hard work and determination got him to where he is today. Books and dvd tutorials mean very little. Its all about the individual and how determined they are to get better.

Latest News : Joey gone bankrupt producing the video. With all the negative comments he got on this thread, no one is willing to buy his crap DVD (thats is secondary reason. the primary one being no naked women in video).

He was recently spotted in India trying to find refuge under new religion or wandering on the streets, but nothing seems to have worked out for him.

Last seen heavily drugged and exhausted. I lost him before I could take him to rehab center. I have heard Leslie, his DPC mom, has already left for Bali in hope to spot him there.

Since he is not there to spend the money he might have made from selling DVDs, I would suggested the money to go to charity (which is into helping young crazy drugged photographers named Joey or Yusufine). So go-ahead and buy it to help the cause. This might not be the worst thing you would have ever done. Just remember the day you voted for your president! ;)

Hic!

(The scotch in my hands is one month older than Joey. Guess the age of single malt in my hands)

I'm still a massive fan of his work and after reading an obscure thread of his on a different site a while ago I was inspired to try a few thigns out with texture layers etc.

Agreed the price is a bit steep but i don't think it will sell huge amounts. If he was selling millions of them, they would be $10 each. However, for what amounts to a photoshop lesson (from a very skilled user I must add) it may be a bit much for some people. If i had a spare £150 i would be tempted but there's a lot more I could do with the money.

On the other hand, I could buy the dvd, copy the techniques and then possbly use the pics to obtain further commissions.

Hahaha, that's the funniest thing I've ever read in a long time. Sadly, it's all true! Except- I am no real Sikh, just a sikh-ass-muthafukka

Just kidding, thanks guys. Peace from a sweaty internet cafe

GRAP! Got a commission to justify the $249 investment and then realized I missed the 10 day introductory price. Really no value to my post other than whining.... and I cannot whine at home because people would freak there if they knew about the price in the first place...

I've got a lighting DVD that I'm going to be starting to sell soon.
Which forum should I put my ad in ?

Joey's vid looks good from what I've seen. Good luck with it!
