Might seem like a lot... but what I got from Joey's first DVD was enough to justify paying for this one... I've got photoshop books too, but they're all academic bulls**t... Joey's discs are REAL, useful information.

Props to Joey and my order submitted. Downloading now :).

holy crap that's expensive. When people were saying "4 Photoshop Books" I was thinking it was like $150, but not $300. That is an insane amount of money. But props to you for the balls to sell it so high.

But when it comes down to it, respect is due, so good for you. I really hope your sales go through the roof. It's great to see a photographer succeed in what they love.

Yes, thats expensive. I am going to pay myself 300$ to learn this much. I know for 300$ I could do this much of hard work.

Joey is a legitimate pro, and has reached the level where he can charge legitimate pro prices for his stuff (and people will line up to pay it). I'm proud to call him a DPC "home grown" homie.

I can always say, "I knew him when..."

that song is killer

if it includes everything he says it does $300 isn't too much to pay

It's a matter of how much your time is worth.

I'm a big Joey fanboy, and even though I haven't emulated his style from the first DVD, I did learn some things from it that I use all the time now, and am making money from it myself too. I find it easy to learn from watching somebody do something. It might take an entire textbook to fail at explaining a technique, but if you watch somebody do it for ten seconds it clicks perfectly. An example for me from the last DVD was dodging & burning, which I was totally clued out about, but is now a very valuable tool to me.

I'm sure this DVD is going to be HUGE compared to the last one too, Joey's been doing A LOT of work since the last one!

I guess I also take into account that I'd be glad to treat Joey to a fancy lunch in Toronto, which can cost about the same.

Rock-On, Joey! :-)

Yes, he's logging quite a bit of flight time for his work too.

that sentence means that i think 300$ is good amount of money. But there are many people who think it would be worth it. I think its all relative.

For me self learning is only way to go, but I do read books etc.

Agreed, it's all relative. I also prefer self-learning, and to save time use what experiences have shown to be the most efficient methods for myself. Once upon a time $300 was an entire month's rent, food, & entertainment for me, so I understand where the younger folks are coming from.

... anyway, I can't read. :-(

oh, i don't think it's priced too expensively at all. the amount of work put into this and all the knowledge and extras gathered into one place is worth every penny. just too pricey for me. :/

$299. Legitimate pro or not, I don't think so. You can buy alot of other more practical Photoshop resources elsewhere for that much money.
Hell you could probably even take a class or two at a local community college.

That's why I think pricing for "spur of the moment" sales can sometimes bring in more money than if you price a product at what it's really worth. It may feel good to price it at what it's really worth. But it may bring in more money selling at a price people will jump at without having to think about it.

Further to my thought on spur of the moment buying...

Back when I was writing software for the insurance industry, I was working together with two other individuals at a startup company. We had a product that we thought was pretty darn good. Good software that would help insurance agents make a lot of money. The two "main" guys in the company were so proud of it, they wanted to charge $350 for the product. I kept insisting they should price it below $100 (now remember, I'm the one that did all the work of writing the software!). My thought was that ... there's a "new insurance agent" born every minute. Price the product at where that new guy will think "Hey, this is a no brainer" and it'll be selling like hot cakes. Price it at what the product is worth ($350?) and that new agent ... he's gonna have to justify the purchase. That's money he can't just throw around in the hopes that he'll see a return on his investment. So he stops and thinks about it. And before you know it ... he's forgotten about it. Lost that sale.

Another product came along about the same time. Borland released Turbo Pascal and later Turbo C. They priced their products well below the standards of that time and they totally turned the industry on its ear and stole attention away from the big companies.

Anyway, it's a philosophy that I think works. But, not everyone agrees. And the two men I was doing business with on the insurance software? Yeah, well.... it's gone. It never worked out. It was a great idea that lost momentum.

The pricing isn't a random number, but is a appraised value from many professionals who sell their own products. This price is actually quite fair compared to most other packages I've seen.

I respect anyone's opinion who thinks it's too high- that's cool, just don't buy it. ;-)

True, you could get some courses as someone mentioned, but in this case it's the same thing except learning from me.

And, for the record, I respect your readiness to price it in a way you see fit. You're the only one that needs to decide if you are making enough of the kind of sales you want to make based on the price you've chosen.

I'm only offering advice on "sales tactics" and make no attempt at stating what the product is actually worth. But a great product at an even better price can really fly off the shelves. (okay, I'll stop now)

...and save gas and learn in your own time.
it's brilliant joey, i know how many hours went into making it,
worth it for those that can afford it.
