Nothing major, just need to take along "the best 3 photos I have ever taken" to a uni photo soc intro evening.
Some I considered were:
A: [knocked out] B: C:
D: E: [knocked out] F:[thumb]465703[/thumb]

And also this one I could take along in print if I wanted for something different (30in long):
G:

Other suggestions:
H: I:

But if you prefer any others in my portfolio, please suggest them too.

Any advice much appreciated, i'll try and do some commenting in return (at least the first 10 people)
Cheers,
Kirsty

Edit to clarify: other than the pano, these would be in digital format, projected.

I like B and C a lot - especially C - very cool feel. I also like the panorama - breaktaking view.

I would go for B, D and F. The rabbit in the meadow is absolutely delightful - beautifully observed. Hmm, I also rather like c....
Off to have a look through the rest of your portfolio - I think it may be worth exploring!

Edit - typos.

B
also D :)

I think would look good in print, really catches the eye.

B is cool, and I love C, so much texture in there. To continue the tree theme I also really like F.

The rest are all good, but not your best imho.

What about this one?
10/09/2007 04:28:31 PM · #7
Okay, thats A and E knocked out then.

So far:
B 4 votes
C 3 votes
D 2 votes
F 2 votes
G 1 votes

As for the bike; I like it, but it was a bit of a snapshot really. Unless anyone else thinks it competes with the others?
And the tree, well thanks, but do you really actually like that photo? I went off it pretty quick tbh.

I'll edit original post to add these options and knock out A and E. A few more votes needed to narrow it down though...

Thanks for the input. Comments coming up.

Let me know if I've missed any of you for commenting.

Any more input?, so far its :

B for sure, and I vote for F.

Could you give F a slight white point adjustment? It is a lovely scene but I find it a touch flat. If i'm off base, just ignore me. ;)

I agree with F being a little flat- a boost in contrast would do wonders for it. Compositionally, it is a strong image. It just needs more bite - either by adding a gradient filter, adding USM at high radius (something like 25%,50radius, 0 threshold) or by adjusting the levels a bit.

Better?
10/10/2007 07:45:05 AM · #17
Yes - I like it better. I think the one you originally did is quite good, but I was actually thinking that more contrast is really needed for a projector show. As a print, the original edit should do quite well - very subtle and painting like. But for a projector show - I think you really need to hit the audience over the head with the image, hence the increased contrast.
