Hi

I'm a student at Manchester Met University (UK) studying photography and as our timetable is a little on the empty side, I thought I would sort out some tutorials for my fellow classmates on the technical/professional side.

What I am looking for is someone who has experience in a particular field (wedding/sport/journalistic etc...) and is willing to donate an hour of their time to talking to a group of around 10-20 students about what they do, what equipment they use, the technical background to what they do and also any advice for budding photographers. Topics could be anything from using light correctly, how to select the right equipment or even how to get yourself known in the field.

I'm not sure on the protocol of this sort of thing but I know that my tutors wont mind lending room use for an hour a week and we'd be willing to stump up a little gesture payment/bottle of wine/whatever is the norm.

You can check out the department info on the MMU website (under School of Art). The photography course is meant to be one of the best ones in the country so it'll look good on your photography CV!

If you're interested, please message me on here and I'll give you my mobile number for more info.

Thanks in advance

Hey Helen,

Sadly, this isn't something I'd be any good at but you might want to try THIS GUY. Great landscape photographer and he knows an amazing amount about the technicals. He's in Cheshire and might be willing to lend you an hour of his time. He isn't a member here but his wife is. My theory - if you don't ask you don't get :o)

All the best,

Natalya

hey sounds like a lot of fun. I was at Man Mat a few years ago. What a place.

Can alumni students sit in on this? I would be interested in coming down and listening to what he has to say (if he comes). But if you need someone to talk about random things then give me a call.
