my NG entry was a photo of this cat - last night she had a run in with an unopened bag of cat food. i kind of got a kick out of it.

and since i am posting photos - one more form earlier this week

At least yours waits for the bag to be opened. I have one that opens the food bags for me within moments of them being brought into the house.

hehe, i think its dicipline then, that would be the last bag of food she got - had i found it torn open...

she's a cool cat - i wouldn't starve her... you can pet her like a dog, and she loves it.

My four cats rip open food bags too - I'd never get such a thoughtful photo of them with a food bag in the room. Spoiled rotten:

Nice picture of Mt Mansfield, Tim. Driving around Starksboro you get a great view of Camel's Hump, but we rarely see the grand sweep of the tallest mountain. Here is a pic of up on top of Camel's Hump looking North with Mt Mansfield in the background:

Back in the Fall obviously.

yeah, starksboro has some nice ( close up'ish ) foliage views too. will go down this coming fall and get some shots.

the mt mansfield photo is off the back porch...

although the house is nothing special, the area is perfect.
and the view, well not so bad ;}

Wow - all four together.... are they all males? From the names, I'm guessing "no". We have 2 males and 2 females... the boys you can find sleeping together, but the girls stay away the boys and each other!

Your're right, we have two and two as well. Our females are 7 years younger. Their mom had weened then when we got them, but our males didn't know any better and let then "nurse." all four became very close that way. The girls can get a bit huffy with each other at times, but I guess we're very lucky to have such harmony.

Thank you! I wasn't even a member yet and had the digital camera for less than a week and was just playing around with it. For a cat pic, it's not so bad - I'm even a little proud of it. It was during the At Rest challenge and hubby convinced me to join just to submit that pic. Then I learned how unpopular cat pictures are here, so I haven't submitted any more. I haven't participated at all in a while, but I hope to change that soon! And pay for my membership - as my husband keeps prodding me to do!

I like how the colors of the cat and the colors of the tree are similar and how their shapes cut across the corners in a balanced way. The expression on the cat's face is so typical - "I rule the world!" Nice, you should take more pictures of cats Gordon.

Yeah - folks don't go for the cat pictures, Jami. But you should submit some to you portfolio. Those of us who LIKE cat pictures will enjoy it. We could start an underground cat movement! ;)

I hope you submit to a challenge again soon. I was doing pretty well in the fall, told myself I would submit to every challenge. Then Christmas came along and I missed out on a lot. I've just gotten going again and it feels good. I like how thinking about a challenge gets me to look at my world in a whole new way. And taking the picture always teaches me something. And commenting on a challenge I entered is a real learning experience - I see all the things I could have done, or things I did do and didn't work but I coldn't see it in my own picture.

Thanks for the encouragement! I don't have any more excuses not to become a full member, so I probably will!

i prefer the member challenges over the open ones, and tend to lean toward those if time is tight, or ideas lacking...

there seems to be better feedback, better images, and less total entires which helps again when time is tight, and allows me to focus on each image a bit more intently. dpcprints, and the profile storage are pluses as well.

its well worth the $25 a year, and personnaly i would pay a bit more...

I couldn't get the large version for some reason, btu I went looking in your portfolio and found these:

I like the sweep of the nose cutting across the diagonal of the picture.

This is just a sweet doggie picture! Look at that smile!

but how do you feel about cats?

the resmblence to my dog is astounding.

i dunno how big yours is, mine is about 40 lbs...

EDIT: thinking about the wolf aspect makes me wonder. the nose, and blue eyes of mine are husky traits, but she is a mutt, so i really dont know her real roots....

so, i've been reading a thread today about cleaning up the forums, and decided that i will just post my own thoughts, and photos to a single thread that i keep adding too. and of course others may add to.

kind of my own way of being semi-organized, and maybe help tidy up the forums a bit...

so to add to my thread, here's a couple local photos from vermont. winter sucks unless you ski, and even today you couldn't because of the winds - resorts shut down the lifts... but the dog and i warmed up the car, and went for a short journey.

hope you like ;}

soup

EDIT: of course i will comment in other threads, but to post my own stuff, it will mainly be here...

I really like this one, makes me homesick for VT. I like the way the line of the road leads your eye to the mountain. The line of evergreens makes a great deviding line between the forgrouns and the distance. Then those small puffy clouds are the icing on the cake. I like the barns too. So much texture in that wood, and angles though they may be crooked. The b&w works well too. Glad to see you and the pup found something both warming and fun on a cold windy day.

Ok, if you can post a picture of your cat, I can post one of mine.

ARE YOU LOOKING AT ME?

Notice the nose. Hope, "The kitten from hell", has a very strange nose.

that cat has a weird nose no doubt...

think i would have called 'YO'

if you have a dog, put the dogs collar on the cat - you'll see what i mean by YO...

@ the camels hump photo, just on the other side of the tree line is underhill, and jericho.

hahahaha, we have two dogs, one huge black lab that she loves, but one very small rat dog (rat terrier) that she terrorizes. hahahaha YO is perfect with a quivering rat dog in the shot. HAHAHAHAHA
