I doubt I can drag hubby and myself out of bed to be at Seattle Center at 8am, but we'll be there at the theater.

... I bet I can fix that (insert evil grin here)... besides, the kids will be ever so happy that I am picking on someone else for a change.

I hope you all don't mind me dragging you to all the coffee shops. I love my coffee. And I am boycotting Starbucks. :)

It sounds fun to me too. Thanks!

I don't go to Starbucks but that's only because I don't like their coffee..why are you boycotting?

Coffee is the bomb...I can't go a day without it.

If anyone is up for pre-GTG Happy Hour my wife and I are going to Big Daddy's in Woodinville Friday night for dinner and beverage.

Just to confirm for Saturday's events (for my sake's as well as others).

8am - Early Birds - Seattle Center in the Center House
10am - Paramont Theatre

Do have a meeting place for the late riser say 1pm or 2pm (or a contact number).

As for Sunday, not sure what the schedule is or who is going (I will not be), but just a thought to make sure no one is waiting out in the cold.

Cheers all. It should be a lot of fun.

Michael,
did you ever call the theater to tell them about a bunch of photographers turning up?
It would be a bit of a giggle (but very sad, too) if they didn't allow any photography!

Would be good to know if we can have tripods, too.
10/31/2007 06:47:46 PM · #136
Thanks for reminding me...I tried calling them last week and only got their recording. However, I just got off the phone with them and after a bit of hemming and hawing, and discussion amoungst themselves while I was on hold, they determined that we are more than welcome to take pictures. They typically have a "no camera policy" in the theatre, but I told them about the group and they agreed to allow us to take pictures!!! Yippee!!! Anyway, if there is any problem, the lady I spoke with told me to say that we confirmed it earlier and to give them her name...her name is Cherie (sp)...

It was funny, now I want to go see "Spamalot" because that was the music score they played when I was on hold...it sounds really funny

Reminder to self... DO NOT hum or sing "Do You Want to Hurt Me" in the proximity of this fella agaricus... seems he can be influenced.

>>Do have a meeting place for the late riser say 1pm or 2pm (or a contact number).

Or maybe a lunch meeting place for the "sorta-late" riser? :^)

Also, can someone let us know what they plan to wear so we can connect easily (i.e. bright red shirt...?)? Or will the fact that we will all be toting big cameras be a bit of a giveaway?

I will PM you my cell number and you can use me as a contact since I am coordinating this little GTG....it is still a bit undetermined as to what we are going to do after the Paramount Tour. I made the suggestion to head to Pike Place/Westlake Center...however if you or anyone else would care to PM me their cell numbers, I would keep all the late risers informed as to where the large crowd of people nerdy looking people with very large lens and cameras is heading to...heehee

Hi all,

I suppose for all the "late risers" (you know who you are) I should supply my cell numbers so you can catch up with us where ever we are or end up after the Paramount...I am going to bring both, since this weekend when I was out shooting, my business cell came off my belt, hit my knee and as I stepped forward I dropped kicked it into a lake I was shooting by. If I were playing golf, it would have been a sweet pitch shot to the green lol...that is what I first thought as it had a really nice arc in the shot when I kicked the phone. Wish I could pitch that good when I need to..

Anyway, after it dried out it works but doesn't hold a charge well anymore...here are the numbers if anyone needs to get ahold of the group on Saturday or Sunday...

425-327-5271 (golf ball cell phone)
425-870-0429 (back-up)

Looking forward to meeting all of you. This is going to be a blast!!

Cool, as it stands now, it looks like I'll probably be able to make it up there tomorrow. I may or may not be bringing my 5yo with me (anyone else bringing their kids?). We'll see what the morning brings. It looks like it's about a 2 hour drive from where I'm at in Longview, at least according to Mappoint but I have no idea what traffic is like since I've never driven this route. I'm going to try to make it to the 8:00am meeting point, but at the very least I'll be there by the 10:00 meet-up at the Paramount.

If for some reason things change and I can't be there, I'll give Michael, Agaricus, a call so that nobody's waiting on us.

Sounds like a fun day. Hope to meet you all tomorrow!

Let us know if anyone is able to make it to dinner at Big Daddy's tonight (in Woodinville) so we can ask for a large enough table.

so let me make sure I have this right... the gtg is tomorrow (saturday) Right?
I am going to try and make it but I sprained my ankle last night in my second indoor soccer game so we'll see if my ankle feels like going for a walk.

We'll get there about 5pm. A live band starts at 9pm but I highly doubt we'll be there that long.

I don't mind posting my cell phone number so if anyone wants to take it down here it is:

Lee (the dpc podcast guy)
509-438-0384

We plan to meet everyone at 8am and are staying close by so we'll be walking to the Seattle Center. If judged the walk time wrong don't leave too soon. We'll be there and we'll call Michael if we look like we are behind for some reason.
11/02/2007 10:07:56 PM · #149
Soooo, since I know I'm not an early riser, as much as I'd like to think I can get up and out of here by 5:30am I truly doubt that it'll happen. Being realistic, I'll say we'll meet you guys at the Paramount Theater once I figure out where it is. :)

One question, is the plan to use the monorail for most of the day and if so, does anyone know what the parking is like around the Paramount? Is it a place I can leave my car while we travel around? If not, I'll have my son (he's always good for a laugh or two) who'll need his carseat, but my accord can hold a couple of others if we're carpooling.

Thanks so much for all the planning you did to make this happen Michael! I'm really looking forward to seeing the city and meeting more DPC'ers. We had GTG's about every few months back in Atlanta and I really miss them.

Just got back from the pre-GTG sorta meeting at Big Daddy's with LoudDog and tfaust and their friend and had a really nice dinner with them. If anyone ever heads to the northend, dang, Big Daddy's has an awesome New York Strip steak for about $13.00...I was in heaven, especially with a Mac N Jack....

To answer questions, in the morning I believe the plan is to use the monorail to get to West Lake and then walk to the Paramount from there. It is an easy jaunt really (weather dependant). And yes, there are parking areas that are relatively cheap a bit east of Pike Place if you choose to drive. Pike Place is West of the Paramount on Pine //www.see-seattle.com/map.htm The maps is a bit big but shows where the monorail is as well as Pike and Pine streets(The Paramount is close to the Convention Center)

There are parking garages a bit closer as well, and some actually have weekend specials where you can park all day for around $10...the one thing I hate about Seattle is their freaking one way streets that make you go north or south to get where ya want to...

Yes, the plan is to first meet at the Seattle Center House //www.seattlecenter.com/information/map.asp...The Center House is #31, at 08:00 and probably leave there a bit after 9 or so?....the monorail (#21 on the Map) to West Lake is not far from there, and then I suppose we can go from there...

I am really looking forward to meeting everyone. I have name badges that Beetle requested and will bring those as well, just so we get everyone's name right I suppose as well as remember (I suck with names as well)

Watch out Seattle, DPC is coming!!! Woot!!!

Oh, and BTW...my picture for the Free Study is around 6.7 and my shot for the Beginning/End Challenge is 6.8...just thought I would plug myself a touch hee hee
