Ok - scanned the thread - but need clarification - am I burning the villages of those who PM'd Larus, or am I burning Larus' village, or both. I'm in a hurry, so if I don't hear back, I'll just dowse my torch and go back to work.

Burn Iceland, give the rest of us a chance.

Art, Art. If an Icelander is present at the burning, it stops being a "disaster", and becomes a "photo op"...

I find it rather ironic that the same person who started this thread also sent me a complaint after I left a comment on his image during a challenge just over a month ago. Even more ironic is how that same individual stated he hasn't sent a reply to a comment in a long time. I guess in DPC time, a long time ago means a month.

Some people may not like the comments I leave and I encourage them to PM me. I posted a while back asking if my voting was wrong because of the number of PM's I received, but I never complain about the PM's. I encourage them.

I think it is a true shame that people complain about the same action they are guilty of themselves....

Sorry I normally don´t do this (pm people in the middle of voting) but you seriously knocked two points off because I didn´t clone out flies from a witch picture?

Thanx for letting me know, I did mark the comment as helpful, I just love DPC some times :)

Hell, I would just be happy if people started clicking the "helpful" box! LOL

I am not guilty of this so I suppose complaining about it is a right... right?? :)

To the OP, I think if everyone realized that when a comment is left, it is not a direct attack on them, they would be less likely to PM about comments that point out flaws, etc... sometimes artists are sensitive :)

But you bumped him back up to 9 after the PM? Perhaps I should start pm-ing more people during voting.

You're abusive and abrasive, but you're also insightful and intelligent and therefore often have a realistic perspetive that may appear harsh, though not necessarily without thought provoking merit.

I'm kinda new around here. I thought the whole point of this site was to put your work out there and see what happens good or bad. I know my stuff isn't super high level stuff, that's why I'm here. I Want to learn. I know full well that whenever I get my self in gear and finally enter a challenge, I will most likely get "negative" comments. They may even make me mad or cry. The photos I take are personal to me and by putting them out there for others to see and comment, I am poutting myself out there. But if I can't handle that, then what's the point of doing any of it at all? If everyone loved everything I did, then I could probably say I have learned enough and move on.

I thought this thread had died...? But now that it's resurrected, I must say you are quite correct: we are here to learn, 'negative' comments are really the most helpful and by 'putting them out there' we should be prepared for almost anything. And by the way, the original author of this thread, I think, has some truly helpful comments. It's not just 'Oh, wow, stunning. I really like your photo' but actual helpful comments about camera settings, lighting and positioning of objects and so forth. Not all the time but mostly! Welcome to DPC and good luck!

Haha, Jeb that was almost like shaking my hand with one hand and punching me in the gut with the other, but you're right.
