Crash: 9/10

Possibly one of the best films i've seen. A very powerful, evocative movie with a stellar cast, flawless script and superb acting from all corners. Bitter-sweet, tragic, heart-warming, brutal and beautiful all in the same 2 hour peice.

This film blew me away, I didn't expect it to be this good and didn't expect it to live up to its 3 Oscar winning pedigree... but it does and then some. Do yourself a favour and rent this movie- it deserves it.

Munich: 7/10

Well... its good, but about 25 minutes too long for it to be considered great. The story is less to do with the Israeli retaliation and more to do with the emotional ramifications vengeance has on individuals and their families. Some of the scenes in this are simply beautiful in true Spielberg fashion and reminded me a lot of the way Schindler's list was shot in its 'heavier' parts. One scene in particular where a bullet casing is picked up from the floor is done with such grace and simple power that let you know why Spielberg is considered one of the greats.

However, the length of this movie is its downfall as there are times when nothing seems to be happening, or at least nothing constructive and helpful to the overall story and some friends of mine had trouble knowing what it was about... and honestly so did I until I read the blurb on the box, then all fell into place. But, if a movie isn't clear from the outset about who's who and what does what and the motivations behind their actions, then it's clearly missing something vital. Still, a vyer good movie if you have the time to dedicate to it.

anyone watched Pineapple Express?
it has gotta be one of the weirder (but still funny) comedy i've watched.
the acting is kinda poor though, but maybe it was intentional, i dunno?

Wanted: 9/10 - very Matrixish effects, lots of action, decent plot.

In Bruges: 2/10 (being generous). I put this in the category of "What was I thinking?!"

Just saw Mamma Mia twice in 24 hours - LOVED IT!

Beautiful Boxer: 6.5/10

This is a movie about Nong Thoom, a much decorated Muay Thai boxer who fought matches to earn money for his parents medication, and to afford a sex change operation.

It's a story about identity, gender, discrimination and society's attitudes towards trans-sexuals.

Interesting.

Synecdoche, New York 9/10
Just about anything with Philip Seymour Hoffman is good.

Beer for My Horses 8 out of 10

Pretty funny movie overall. You have to watch with an open mind so you are not thinking ahead of time that it will be no good.

Toby Keith
Rodney Carrington
Ted Nugent
David Allan Coe
Willie Nelson
Barry Corbin
Tom Skerritt

"Beer for My Horses" tells the story of two best friends that work together as deputies in a small town. The two defy the Sheriff and head off on an outrageous road trip to save the protagonist's girlfriend from drug lord kidnappers.

Syriana: 5/10

Boring as a very boring thing. The first 75 minutes of this movie are so tedious it's quite hard to watch. It only gets interesting after Clooney gets tortured and the movie speeds up a little bit and the story becomes more apparent. This leads me to tell you the story of this movie is also very bland, but convoluted to make you think that something is actually going on when it isn't. However, there is a very cool and rather poignant scene when a range rover gets blown up and a few scenes with Matt Damon that go to some lengths to explain the crappy political situation in Iran and how what is best for the country isn't their current practice.

So, if you watch this movie, fast forward the first hour and a bit and it will be a lot more rewarding.

The Dark Knight: 8/10

Would have easily been a 10 out of 10 if it didn't go on...

Its probably the best scene in the movie tbh. It's good if you like watching nails being forcibly removed.

Freebird! UK comedy about bikers, much better than Wild Hogs.

Rating 9/10 once the wooden acting stops after ten minutes, some very funny scenes. But, it is UK humour, not US Humor:)

Twilight -- 6.5/10

Loved the books, but they deliver their lines horrible in the movie!

Agreed, they could've easily cut out one whole hour, would've strengthened movie immeasurably.

Bolt 7/10

Took my 8 year old and his friend. They gave it a 5/10. I was surprised they weren't as enthused as I was.

Reign on me: 8/10

This movie is great. Adam Sandler and Don Cheadle are the two lead characters who pull it off fasntastically. The essence of the film is communication and how a lack of it has negative effects on those around you and your own life. Sandler plays a character trying to get his life back together after 9/11 and Cheadle plays a guy who feels traopped in his current domestic life...

I probably didn't sell it too well but its a great movie and well deserves to be rented/seen.

Ditto that. Been a year I think, but I would go 9/10.

tropic thunder - 6.5/10
not one of Ben Stiller's best, but enjoyable nonetheless.

I just finished watching 'The Brave One' about about 15 minutes ago.

6/10. (6 out of 10 is decent for a rating from me). It's good moments and scenes were pretty good, and the film was never -Bad-, but there were some moments and scenes where the script's storytelling wasn't right.

anyone watched the pursuit of happyness?
i'm rating it a 9/10!
this is one of those where Smith's role is so convincing you actually felt like you're watching a real person

EDIT: typo corrected in the movie title, thanks Art :)
