Even biased, that's stretching bias to the utter-most limits of the atmosphere.

I'm a Star Wars fanatic, and I can only give that movie a 5/10. To think of giving it any more than that causes me to enter into a suicidal depression.

Heh heh!! I should have added that even though my body is 33 years old, my mind is really still only 6.

Cruel Intentions: 4/10

Why do I bother? Well, it had cleavage on the front cover so maybe that explains it.

This movie reminds me of Dawsons Creek only in the way that the actors (whob are clearly in mid 20s) are supposed to be 16 or 17 and totally missing the mark in terms of language, speech andgeneral character creation.

The story is pretty good, as is the ending, but this movie feels like a wannabe teen-movie-with-attitude and ends up, I guess, as a pretty good attempt, which is probably why it sucks.

I think i'll watch a real movie tonight... maybe Bourne Ultimatum, or hell, maybe the 1985 Transformers cartoon.

Matchstick Men, saw it last night on DVD and loved it. 8/10

I agree with Clone Wars, I took my star wars obsessed 9 year old son to see it, and nearly fell asleep. HATED the animation, wondered why I bothered spending the money. The icecream was ok.

last night I saw What happens in Vegas... I guess it was light hearted, pretty predictable though so I give it a 5/10

The Fountain 5/10

We wanted to stop it three quarters of the way through but I convinced my son to watch it through, to my dismay.

What a load of donkey dung.

Yet that donkey dung was good enough to get a 5? I can't imagine what you would call something that got a 1. :P

"Duck Soup" The Marx Brothers

Yes, it's 75 years old, but I'd say it's extremely relevant to today. It starts with an economic bailout and goes from there with an incompetent leader, spies and there's even a war.

Great fun.

Hitch -- 7/10. Funny and lighthearted, but some of the awkwardness was just too "this is in here just to be awkward and make you squirm" which I never really like.

I'll check them out...but Murtha should have his own tv show ! Those racist, redneck voters in his district have to go!

Well, along those lines you might find one of John Stewart's latest segments funny: the Gaffe-In. He pokesfun at gaffes from Biden, Kerry, Murtha, Palin and McCain. The Kerry gaffe & subsequent (& characteristic) digging himself deeper is particularly funny and McCain's gaffe, well, it's an innocent one, but I've never heard him so awkwardly backpedal like that before.

Baby Mama

Amy Poehler was pretty funny, but Tina Fey needs to stick to SNL short skits. She looked like a deer in the headlights most of the time.
Kinda like a high school play.
It wasn't that funny, either.

Versus- 6/10

A japanese movie that suffers from bad translation (like they all do) about reincarnation, zombies and the yakuza...

weird.

Brokeback Mountain - 7/10

Interesting movie. Very personal subject matter. And for everyone thinking it might just be gay porn, the 'sex scenes' are very short and limited in their scope, so there's nothing in there that could be considered 'graphic'. The acting in this film is mostly great. Gyllenhall (sp?) performs admirably as the torn lover of Heath Ledger, who performs well but honestly isn't given much of a range to present- his character talks through gritted teeth all the time and rarely speaks above a mumble. LIke a lot of ledger's late works, I was left feeling he could blow us all away if given one scene to truly shine, but that scene never comes and i was feeling like the movie's potential was cut short due to an actor with the talent of ledger being restrained in this way.

The reason I scored this lower: the music stinks. It just doesn't fit... the depressing scenes are given a light, ballady, country & western twangy song where it calls for something deeper and more pensive. The score on the whole is pretty much throwaway and doesn't seem to fit the on-screen happenings and since the sound/music is 1/3 rd of a finished production, they shot themselves in the foot with this.

Another reason is that this movie needed a cliactic scene in it to portray the horrific and savage ending to one of the main characters but it never came and the issue was badly resolved I think. The moment the news breaks should have been like a bomb dropping but it wasnt- this is not the fault of the cast, but more of a screenwriting shortcoming for misjudging the amount of drama needed to make a scene anything more than forgettable.

Overall, I liked this movie. I wanted to watch it to see if the venom of Crazy America was rightfully aimed towards it. It isn't. The movie does not have anything to do with gay rights or promotion of gay behaviour, as the opposition would have you believe, it is instead a tale of a savage love that cannot be requited and displayed in a society that will not accept it.

A good movie that could have been great with a bit more spirit and momentum.

Stay tuned for the next review!

Spiderman 3: 3/10

I'm being generous to it here... this has to be one of the biggest screw ups in modern cinema. The first Spiderman film was pretty good, the second WAS good... the third is in a totally different league to them and is not worthy of being a Spiderman title.

There are so many things wrong with this movie i don't know where to begin; from the opening credits that look like a bad TV show, to Bruce Campbell's idiotic french accent, to Maguire going all emo and trying to look all badass, to the strutting down the street and the fact that this movie wastes 90 minutes doing absolutely nothing at all apart from wasting time and wasting money. The story progresses in minute fits and spurts, and when it does it does so so badly and half-heartedly I found it impossible to be engaged.

I like Tobey Maguire, I think he's a good actor but a good actor needs a good script and this movie has a script like it was written in about 15 seconds by a group of kindergarten kids. It's dull, dragging, wooden and totally emotionless where it needs to be fast and dynamic. The acting for the most part is disappointing, but redeemed by a few correctly done scenes usually involving Maguire and whoever played that Hobgoblin guy (although most of the movie he played like he had some kind of mental problem).

Basically, don't watch this movie. Save yourself the time and rental money and get a decent film like Munich or The Simpsons Movie an stay away from this godawful waste of celluloid that should be condemned to Saddam Hussein's asshole.

The Sea Inside 10/10

Spanish film with antonio bardem. Based on a true story. With subtitles.

An absolute tearjerker of a film! You'll experience a whole myriad of human emotions watching this...it really will make you appreciate life...and freedom!

About a quadriplegic's fight to take his own life.

Watch it...you'll come out of it a better human being.

In the Valley of Elah - 3/10
Just a long, slow, "War screws people up" message. Lame.

Get Smart - 7/10
Pretty entertaining. Moreso probably for people like me who were huge fans of the TV show.

Wall-E

9/10

Most people left the theater with smiles on their faces and tears in their eyes, over an animated robot with minimal dialogue. Only Pixar.

Let the Right One In

Violent and romantic(??) Swedish film about a 12 year old bullied and eccentric boy who befriends a vampire girl his age and the development of their relationship. Wuh? Yes.

8/10 I thought it was very very good. Reminded me of the Shining atmosphere wise...
