I also recently saw "Sicko" by Micheal Moore (I don't know if that's spelled right or not) 8/10

Rambo 6/10 - Everything I expected in the story and the dialog, but a bit more gore than usual. Realism is one thing, but this was more like the special effects team got some new gadgets and just went to town with them. Can't wait for Rambo VIII where he takes on abusive caretakers at the retirement home. I can see the opening scene that sparks the whole carnage - a young, abrasive intern comes in to do some blood tests on the 89 year old John Rambo. Rambo freaks out, dispatches the intern and goes on his rampage. At the end of the movie we hear Rambo saying "He drew first blood!"

You know with a little effort you could probably sell that idea to Hollywood. Anything has to be better than Hulk, the yearly remake.

We saw "The Happening" on Friday the 13th. We were SO disappointed.
Not good.
Not good at all.

Fool’s Gold: 5/10 – not as entertaining as expected it would be (was originally thinking this one would be similar to National Treasure I or Sahara):

The ones I liked from recently released ones:
There Will be Blood: 8/10 (Daniel Day-Lewis excellent as always)
No Country for Old Men: 7/10

Also a few weeks back watched The Gladiator once again: for me personally this movie is 9/10 (Russell Crow is a great versatile actor). One of my favorite parts: [removes helmet and turns around to face Commodus] My name is Maximus Decimus Meridius, commander of the Armies of the North, General of the Felix Legions, loyal servant to the true emperor, Marcus Aurelius. Father to a murdered son, husband to a murdered wife. And I will have my vengeance, in this life or the next. [Commodus trembles in disbelief]

There Will Be Blood
9.5/10 Incredible acting, great story, amazing photography.

Ironman 9/10....Fabulous. Robert Downey Jr. was outstanding.

The Happening - 3.5 (wasn't happening, MNS's worst film EVER. Lots of gore, no plot, lots of whackos, weirdos and idiots - more a typical horror film than an MNS film. Oh and about a dozen instances of the microphone hanging down.)

Bee Movie - 5.5

Indiana Jones - 6.5 (Better than Temple of Doom, but not as good as original or The Last Crusade)

Juno - 5 (okay, she was touted as being this very intelligent girl, etc. In reality the character was rude & crass. Was disappointed...heard so many good things and really didn't see what was so great. Though fans of Napolean Dynamite will likely love it.)

Iron Man - 8 (several segments, the ending battle is probably the weakest part of the film - be sure to catch Samuel L. Jackson as Nicky Fury after the closing credits.)

Battlestar Galactica: Razor - 7.5 (it was awesome to see the classic Cylons)

***

"I also recently saw "Sicko" by Micheal Moore (I don't know if that's spelled right or not) 8/10" - Ringostarr

I'm sorry... I hate these propagandocumentaries. Loose on facts. Everyone buys into them because they're too lazy to research them at all. Then REAL documentaries like "March of the Penguins" etc have a much tougher time getting ANY limelight.

That is a great film. And that is by far one of my favorite scenes....

The Golden Compass. I give it a 7 out of 10. It was entertaining and the bears in the movie looked very real. I felt that the story was a bit slow but I haved always loved Nicole Kidman :)

The other movie I recently saw was "Meet the Spartans" (not by choice). I give that one a 3 out of ten just for their attempt. It was boring, stupid and alot of poor attempts at crude humor. It was a typical Wayans bros film.

August Rush

I'd give it an 8. Certainly worth seeing.

CLOVERFIELD

2/10

Terrible movie. Think Blair Witch Project....meets GODZILLA.

Any explanation would 'ruin' the movie. I hated it..a waste for 4 bucks.

I AGREE!! 10/10 for Gladiator.

My family was out of town for the weekend..and I bought the special edition and watched how they made everything. A lot of the things that I had originally thought was CGI was actually real and shot in a stylized format. Of course, CGI was used alot...but not as much as I originally had thought.

This is one of my favorites of all time.

I agree with 6/10

I liked everything except the ending. I wish they would have had some dialogue with the preacher who said ' there is never a reason to take a life!'....with RAMBO after he (the preacher) beat the guy to death with a rock.

but....it was better than II and III.

A few things bothered me. The stupid smile mary had on her face about 80% of the time. The lack of enthusiasm on indies behalf

I would give it a 3/10

A few completely ridiculous scenes...perhaps something that reminded one of tarzan? (trying not to spoil anything)

also..it is hard to be enthusiastic when the crew has to change your depends in between takes.

:)

Kung Fu Panda

Saw this last week. Was disappointed. If you've seen the previews, you've seen most of the funny stuff. Not nearly as funny as I, and my 6 yr-old son, thought it would be. I'd give it a 6.

The Happening....zzzzzzzzzzz
oh...3, just was not up to expectations...gore...check...plot...hmmm....
acting...ok...not worth the price they charge in theatres these days. (Popcorn was better than the movie!)

The Dark Knight 7/10

Excellent movie - fairly fast moving with small exceptions. Reasonably good plot consistency. Avoided lines, went to a matinee.
My only nitpicks are the length (2.5 hours) and Batman's voice. ...although I now find myself talking like that to my kids cuz it does sound a little menacing.

Is there any way I can get the last hour and a half of my life back? I just watched "strange wilderness", which is a Happy Madisson production. I usually like Adam Sandler movies, but this has to be the stupidest thing ever put on film EVER!

Please do yourself a favor and AVOID THIS MOVIE!!!

The Attic: 0/10. serious. that freaken bad. if you walk into blockbuster and see this and go, "wow that cover looks pretty cool, maybe a good movie?!" No.

Get Smart: 9/10. mom loved it, i laughed really hard as well, funny, and fun plot. anyone who loves Steve Carrell has got to see this.

Mamma Mia
Once I got over the wierdness of them bursting into song, (I know it's a musical and they're supposed to sing!) I quite enjoyed it.The best part for me was the little 4 or 5 year old girl sitting behind us. She sang her little heart out to all the songs, especially Dancing Queen. Too cute.
Rating, 7.5/10
