If you wanna play Bad Analogy game then yes, it is a deterrent to lock the doors while my windows are open.
Is it going to 100% prevent entry? No. No one is claiming that.
On second thought, never mind you're right, make you feel better?

Was there some protection there ? |
Are you using FireFox? Do you have Options->Content->Advanced->Disable or Replace Context Menus unchecked? Or JavaScript disabled?
Like I said, it's easy to bypass, but maybe it's better than nothing.

I didn't say how people could beat it, because the methods are well-known.
I simply stated that disabling right-clicking is pointless (as demonstrated by others) and annoying to end users (maybe that's just me but personally I don't believe that a professional website needs to control the buttons in your browser.)
There's no need to put printable-resolution pics online. You are wasting bandwidth and loading speed on your site, for something which practically noone will benefit from in the perspective of viewing your images on screen, because screen resolutions in general are too small to appreciate hi-res photos.
By putting up suitable screen-resolution alternatives of your shots, you prevent people from using them for prints, so can still collect revenue. And now, here's the kicker -
If you put stuff online, be prepared for people to "steal" it. People will take your images to use on their myspace. People will cut bits out of your images to use as their livejournal icons. People will save your images and use them as screen-savers or backgrounds. If you don't want that, then don't put stuff online. I'd rather look on the plus side thought that at least that shows that people appreciate your work, and it's not like it is losing you money because the same people that do this are not interested in buying your work. The people who are interested in buying will contact you and pay for a hi-res version.

No. Nothing disabled, works in either IE or firefox. Just using the standard file menu 'save as' option. Javescript on. Content all on. Context menus all working.

You can save the html page and see all images.
Or you can see html code and grab direct url of the image //www.onetacoshort.com/trash/rt-clk/bueller.jpg.
More strongly to make the image from several parts in the HTML table.
Also you can show fully transparent GIF over the image and don't catch right click (in this case only transparent GIF will be saved ).
All the methods was compared here:

But all this methods can be simple hacked.
Therefore I protect my images by big transparent watermark in Ais watermark protector |
