Congratulations. You can save a lot of money from cigarettes and buy more lenses for your new camera.

Wow pitsaman, five days is already quite an accomplishment, the first few days are the hardest don't look back, if you made it this far you can make it all the way! Good luck!

When I quit, I took some angry self-portraits. I suppose it helped.

Hello Pitsaman, Your photo challenged me to join and post this comment, I also quit as of midnight Dec.31, 2003. It is tough and I admire anyone who has the guts to admit that. Good luck! I chew licorice, weird, but in my feeble little mind it works.

I lost a brother-in-law to lung cancer last year, lifelong pack a day man. It's not a nice way to check out. I've been off the evil weed since '86 and never regretted it for a minute. Best of luck to Kosta and Barb, hang in there.

I'm still a smoker - but the one time I tried to quite, the moment that got me was when I thought I'd cracked it - so keep your guard up against that.

405 days for me, aka $3948.75. Yup packs of cigarettes around here are $9.75.

One piece of advice ... don't give in to that "just one puff" or "just one cigarette" bullshit, that's how everyone starts smoking again.

Cheers Pitsaman ... you can do it. Just put all that money aside for lenses for that shiny new DSLR.

Good Luck Pits! I quit 5 years ago and don't regret it one bit.

You've had great advice on here, but Jacko is certainly right. I tried a few times before I was successful and I'd always fall in to the "Well, I'm camping, so it's ok" trap ...

Congrats to you Jacko, byetko, femefatl!! :-)

Good Luck with it Kosta. I kicked the habit about 5 years ago. Seems like forever. The toughest days are over, but there are still a lot of rough ones ahead. Just don't give in and you will succeed.

Good luck! In June it will be 4 years for me! Here's a little incentive tool that helped me along sometimes: Silk Quit

It keeps track of money saved and life added because you made the decision to become somber!

I quit 13 years ago....my son asked me to quit on his 10th birthday...he said he didn't want any other birthday gifts but that one!
So...I did it! Jason is 23 now, and it turned out to be the best gift he ever gave me! Hang in there....it is hard, and it tests your good nature....but, it is worth the struggle! I wish you the best of luck!!

I quit about 6 years ago - worth the struggle for the first couple of weeks - but watch the temptation about 6 months later when you think you've 'cracked it' G'luck!

50,300 cigarettes not smoked since then :) and $18,505.37 saved...
