If any of that stuff is true, I will be getting a D300 or (if I can afford it) a D3 IF the noise performance has been improved.

| Man, after spending all this money on my cam, I want to bring it back now! :(. .. no. The hell with it, image quality will stay the same on all flagship sensors for at least 50 years. |

That makes a lot of sense if Nikon introduces cameras with sensor having 1.1x ratio.
I do not think that the D300 will be that expensive. I will think something around 1500-1700$ (the canon 40D is about 1300 $). If this true, and if the price is not that high, this means the end (or at least near the end) of the Canon EOS 5D (soon a new FF canon will be introduced) and a very strong competitor for the 40D.
Soon enough, we will find out and then can discuss about the future of dSLRs. The pace of how things are evolving is getting faster and faster due to the very strong competition.
PS: whatever it happens, I will stick with the D200 for a while...

Considering the news about the new 12mp Sony sensor, I don't think we'll be disappointed. The rumors of 12,800 and 25,600 ISO's going on over at DPReview are pretty promising also. The Canon CMOS advantage with Noise has always been their built-in hardware based noise reduction, while everyone else has been doing it almost exclusively off-chip. Here's hopin anyways. |

I hear ya. Nikon has been making great strides I think. D200 does better with noise than the D2Xs and the D80 does better than the D200, so I have high hopes these cams will be better too. Regardless, once they are announced I'll put my name on a list to get one or the other and then wait for a review to come out. Odds are I'll get a review with test images before I get a camera shipped to me... |
