And of course, Canon's own pages:

Time to start a "talk me out of buying this" thread...

I'm seriously considering giving the 18-55mm IS a go, for $200 it might be a worthy experiment. I need a cheap, wide lens soon.

Well, we may have to wait 6-12 months for the 5D upgrade now, but seeing the 1Ds go to 20.1 MP gives me more hope for a 16MP 5D upgrade.

The coin for the 1Ds is just a bit steep for me.

It'll take a hell of an upgrade to get me to spend another $3000+ on a body. I might really be interested in a new 40D though.

Oh I hope I have the $ to replace my 350xt with the 40D soon. Would be great. I'm having click withdrawals.

and then there's the Canon-G9.... but where's the G8?
8 is a lucky number, maybe Canon is keeping it reserved for something REALLY special?

sorry about the hijack - these cameras are all announced on the same day :p

so when do the 30D's get the price drop? Not thinking of switching yet, just never paid that much attention to when new camera's come out.

30D price drop starts today more than likely.

I think I might grab a deal on a 30D if I can and sell my sony, unfortunately the Sony gets noisy real quick.

Sweet. I just emailed it to my boss. He's been wanting a 30D and I told him a 40D was around the corner. Maybe he can find a good deal on some of the few last new or slightly used 30D's.

Joe, it hasn't changed (at B&H) since yesterday, and only -$10 since mid-August. But I'm watching and I'll let you know.

I want one, looks like I am gonna get another camera..lol and eventhough I just got my Rebel XTI-400

I am glad now I did not get a 30D I would have been pissed. Just thinking didn't the 30D just come out as well, it seems like it has not been that long since the 30D launched.

The 30D was announced February 2006.

For me its feel like a good upgrade, I just hope the price in sensible in the UK. Already some places are taking orders for about £900.
08/20/2007 09:07:10 AM · #21
At last, a decent upgrade for the 20D (unlike the 30D which was just the sensor/spot meter/lcd)! I'm liking the sound of the WFT-E3 wifi battery grip :D

Actually, this bodes well for the 5D mkII (or whatever they call it), as it should be similar spec to the 40D but with the fullframe sensor...

I can't wait to order the 40D. It is listed on Amazon, but they say it is not available until Sept. 20. It is not listed on B & H yet.

Looks like another month until I can take pictures again. I'm going through withdrawal!!

still waiting for canon to make a (non-L) wide prime - perhaps an 18mm 2.8 EF-s for say $350.00

what's the freakin' hold-up?!
