Are we talking fall colors, or earlier?

I would prefer warmer weather myself..

Any happenings upcoming in the Lansing area?

I think we've missed most of the best stuff around here. Last weekend would have been good. It was the Great Lakes Folk Fest...

Lansing sounds good.... What about Architechural things? -

and I agree warmer is better!

Early September?

We just missed the Woodward Nightmare, I mean Dream Cruise .. anyone who lives near Woodward hates that thing ...

The Zoo is always a fun option ... but I'm to travel someplace else also .. I'm also ok for a warmer weather GTG ... and a fall color GTG ... makes no difference to me!

edit to say that the State Fair is coming up quickly ... I'm planning to spend a lot of time there ... so if anyone is interested in joining me at some point, just let me know ...

Early September?

architectural possibilities, Capitol, lots of buildings and some interesting old churches downtown. In East Lansing on campus (MSU), there are some of the older dorms, Beaumont Tower, stadium, and some things like that that are of some interest. Also, East Lansing is a neat spot if you are into street photography.

I've not spent much time in Lansing ... that sounds like fun to me ... early Sept works also ...

September 8 or 9? 15 or 16? 22 or 23? 29 or 30th?

Sunday or Saturday ?
USually, Sundays are easier on people...

Lansing?
architecture -(See Taterbugs post) (architecture, candids, people)
Lansing - Old Town Bluesfest Sept 21-22 - Free (candid, street, bands)
Lansing - Cruising the Gut - Sept 22 (Cars, candid, street)
Lansing - Old Town Oktoberfest October 6 - $15 (candid, street)

beautiful little cities on the west coast?
the zoo?

I prefer free, that way more people can come and enjoy

Edited to add other September days.

Di any Architecture, Bluefest
kaelva any
bmartuch 22-23, 29-30

It sounds like fun to me but early September is out. My wife is having surgery next week and mid to late September would be better for me. The weather is still pretty warm in late September.

see my last post... I need ideas and dates :)
and who all wants to come!

I would try and make it if not scheduled for the 8th or 9th (I'm out of town). I'd be up for anything. Maybe Downtown Detroit, then into Windsor for sunset/early evening shots of the Detroit skyline? I understand some people fear Detroit (not without reason), but as a group we'd be fine, especially downtown.

the Lansing old town bluesfest sounds fantastic to me ... even if we don't plan a GTG on those days, I may take a drive up to check it out

If anyone is interested in going to the zoo, I can take the lead on those arrangements ... I have a zoo membership and that allows me free parking and to bring a guest in free.

Has anyone ever gone down to Eastern Market (downtown)? It's open every Saturday Eastern Market Link ... great spot for candids, flowers and veggies/fruit shots ... later in the afternoon they have a band that plays and there are people that bring out the huge grills for a fabulous bbq ... there are lots of restaurants ... Comerica Park and Ford Field are a short walk/drive away ... Greektown is a great street shot/candid place ...

The State Fair opened on Wed ... I'm planning to spend some time there also ... if anyone has any interest in going, just PM me ...

Those all sound like good ideas to me. I would love to shoot some photos in downtown Detroit. I have no problem with being there in a group.

How would Saturday the 22nd be?

oooh if you are going to meet in Detroit, maybe I can sneak in from Ohio. I did not go to OSU, so the border patrol should let me in ;)

ok.. we have Detroit and Lansing.
Eastern Market or Architecture or BluesFest

I have plans the 22nd... but can get out of them if we plan this for that weekend and Kaelva needs a few weeks to make sure she's off work.

We DON'T need to do only one GTG in Sept...
We can also do one in Early October.

Please! lets get some ideas and dates pinned down before its too late

plus nudge other Michiganders so we can get this going!

My only booked date in Sept is Sat the 29th ... can't get out of those plans ...

totally agree that we don't need to have only 1 GTG ... we can schedule one for Lansing and one for Detroit ... personally, I'd love to go to the bluesfest ... either Sat or Sun are both good for me ...
