5.9 on dpc standards is pretty good score. And 5.9 when you are competing with very good images, is very good. |
I know. I just let my head get too big about my pic. I really like it, so obviously everyone should give me nines and tens... |:~)

I had to stop, at least for now. If I start voting a challenge, I like to vote 100%. However, right now, if I see one more center cropped sunrise, flower, portrait, landscape, or macro shot I may just have to gouge my eyes out with a dull, rusty, broken, butter knife to ease their pain.
How many times can you say, 'consider the rule of thirds', 'try cropping off center', or 'a 50/50 horizon split does not an interesting picture make'. After a time you stop wanting to comment, after more time you don't want to vote because then you will see the next picture. It didn't help that I dug through the Rolling Stones (207) photos before starting in here. I know that was my fault. I. will. survi...

I've dropped from a 5.6 at the beginning of voting down to this and only one comment. I'd sure loves some comments for all the low scores I'm getting.

Rowan - I have to say I was quite surprised when I looked at your profile.
Reading your comments made me wonder as to your experience and time and DPC. Usually it's a newbie that complains about repetitive subject types, or a grizzled veteran that gets grumped about other newbies faltering on technical basics.
I think it's cool that you've obviously entered the fray here again after a 3 1/2 year hiatus from participating in a challenge.
I can also partially understand your frustration at voting somewhat considering the size of Free Studies with 650 entries, doubly so since if you do manage to cast a vote on all of them you'll have more than doubled your number of votes cast.
Hat's off to you for your longevity here. You were one of the first 50 or so to register at DPC. Yikes! That was a while ago.

I'm intrigued by anomolies like this. Yours will be the first one I look for (other than my own) when it's all over.

I knew mine would be an anomoly going in. I had other options that I knew would score better but wouldnt have as much impact in general. I knew my score would suck (figured much worse than it is) but I knew that it would touch a small handful of people in a positive way. When we move from this house this will be hanging in the new one.
And no comment from you - yet ;) |

Well, it's been creeping up and it got validated, so maybe that'll get me a few higher scores toward the end. Quite happy overall and I got my first fave during a challenge in some time.
