*sniff, sniff*

I guess this is the thread for the high scorers. So, I shall take my sorry rear and go whimper in a corner somewhere.

And.....I really liked my shot this time.

well my photo here is still floating around 5.4, but my other challenge photo is dropping so fast the NWS will need to put out a frost warning for it.

I just got the validation request I've been more or less expecting from the beginning. Maybe once it's validated people will be more impressed and the score will climb. :)

Of course, I'm pretty happy with it even now.

I haven't seen it yet, or if I have, I was able to figure out how it was done. What is more of a challenge is trying to figure out what you could have done to make people request validation during an advanced editing challenge.

Per usual, I have a pretty good idea why someone requested validation. I like validation requests - it means I pulled something off that someone else couldn't imagine. :) In this case, I'm guessing someone thinks I composited two images.

This is rather strange voting.
In a challenge where there are 650 pics, 3 days since the voting started, and I have 85 votes and 150 views.
I kind of expected other people that summited (if not to vote) at least view the other pictures in the challenge but it looks like many people simply submit then get back to DPC a week later just to see how well did they do.

I usually do not vote in the challenges I participate but in this one I am voting exactly for the reason that if all the participants do not vote, we would not even get some votes.

I don't vote in the challenges I enter either. What I'm surprised at is the lack of comments. 87 votes and only 1 comment. Last challenge I had 13 comments although my score was higher.

So I've come to the conclusion that you only get comments if your entry is really good, or really bad hehe.

I think people are really busy this time of year too. It's summer, I know for me I'm teaching and out and about every day.

Whats the point if 650 people submit and only about 100-150 bother to vote?
I guess this is the last time I vote (for good or for bad)
08/04/2007 10:02:01 AM · #211
this is the worst free study I have ever had, But I knew this would do poorly, but I posted it anyway because what I went through to get the shot......he-he I am surprised where it is, I didn't think it would have been this high.......

... I'm dyin'! It's a good shot but of a boring subject, ESPECIALLY for a free study. Been living in 5.3 land for several days now.

I SHOULD HAVE KNOWN BETTER! doh!

Cheers!

Oh, and:
You have rated 239 of 648 images (37%) in this challenge.
You have commented on 16 images (2%) in this challenge.

I'm with you Router, last night I had a 6.24 and took a pounding from midnight on. I was hoping to bump one of my front page photos but now I'm just hoping to stay above the 6 mark.

I'm going to try to get to 33%, but I'm not sure I'll get much further. Commenting has taken HOURS! Congrats to those that comment on a whole Free Study. It does give you a chance to correct any scores that you got wrong the first time through.

This is my first ever free study entry.
I had all these silly notions that my image would score really well and everyone would love me (sniffs quietly to himself...)

Well and good. Chuck Norris will take you all down with one massive roundhouse kick to the server...

(...laughs hysterically to himself while curling up in the corner with a bag of Easter peeps...)

5.9 on dpc standards is pretty good score. And 5.9 when you are competing with very good images, is very good.
