OMG where is my neck?!?

Since I quit smoking 5 months ago, I've gained about 30 pounds. Just saw this thread and it gave me an idea.

How about if we combine weight loss with an SP challenge where we post pics of ourselves maybe once a week to show our progress?

I think it might provide some motivation and could be fun and a way to get some support.

Anyone wanna give it a go?

I'd think not ;-) Ya sure you don't want to post SPs anyway?

Don't be so hard on yourself, your neck is clearly visible beneath your 4th chin.

If I lose weight, the gravity field I generate would collapse causing planet wide chaos.

I quit smoking in Nov 06. I believe I have gained about 25lbs.

Not sure where the weight is coming from as I have gained a lot of water weight in the last 2-3 months. Take a picture of my gut? That would not be a pretty picture.

Congrats to all that have quit smoking, I quit 6 years ago and haven't looked back. It's hard but, "YOU CAN DOOO IT!"

hmmm.. I'm torn. To be losing weight along with others sounds cool but then I'd have to post SP's that show how fat I really am...hhmmmmm.. on the other hand I've met about 50 of you DPC'ers in the past couple months so I guess that cats pretty far outta the bag. My doctor suggested today that I lose weight under the close supervision of a pysician so that this time It will keep my eating disorders in check..them knowing when things are moving too fast.etc.(athough how they are supposed to stop me I don't understand)...so I don't know. I'll concider it. good luck to all of those that do it. I'll be watching for sure.

Crystal,
I'm like you. Sounds like a great idea, but I hate the thought of posting those first few pics.

Count me as a definite, possible, maybe.

I'm thinking about it but ewwwww, although some company and support losing weight would be nice. I can't do anything atm 'cos I have some killer flu, if I survive it I might be in.

I don't think I can post an image a week, thats a lot of hard work to keep up with 6-;
07/31/2007 12:03:45 AM · #13
Maybe not 1 a week. Whatever suits you.
07/31/2007 12:14:27 AM · #14
yeah, i like the idea of one a week :D

no nudes for me though :)

I think I may be up for this - although it may take more guts than I have. I would only post once a fortnight, as I might see some difference between pictures.

Edit: Pun unintended, but I clearly do have the guts, so count me in! Jerowe - fully clothed only from me!

I'm interested in this challenge. It would provide yet another incentive to be serious about losing weight. I lost 35 pounds several years ago and kept it off for a couple years, but it's all slowly been creeping back on. I've been thinking if I lose it again I could use myself as a model in some pics without it being disgusting. We could have additional incentive of a secondary challenge for the committed and daring to post a nude of ourselves 6 months from the start. Discretely of course.

SP = Self Portrait

If we start this 1 September I am in, have the fork challenge to deal with first...

Good timing.

I've been saying that I'm planning to start taking some weight loss seriously once this wedding is behind me.

My hubby has already started Weight Watchers and is doing well, so I'll probably join him. I'll keep this thread under "watch" to determine when we start and what exactly we're posting.

Edited to add: My ultimate weight-loss goal is to shed 85 pounds.

Ok, nothing like striking while the iron is hot. I shall take my first SP, and mark the starting point of my diet, tonight, and sit on it until we start proper.

I think we could all start when we are ready. Since healthy weight loss takes time, we will be working on this thread for a few months at least.

I am not participating. I already lost 7kg since may (from 98kg down to 91kg). The goal is 85kg (I am 189cm tall). But that last bit will take a long time and will be hard to see.

It is not so much a diet that did it. Sure I decided to eat less, but focussed more on avoiding unhealthy things. I still eat a lot of meat, cheese, bread, put mayonaise on things, drink alcohol etc. Avoiding cookies and chips, no cakes, no more chocolate milk, lots of water and tea....
But most of all movement. I got my fat arse from behind the pc and started to do crosstraining for half an hour, four to five times each week, being careful to give the muscles also some rest to recover. Plus daily half an hour walks. Get yourself a dog, that will force you to go out each day in any weather. And you can afford his food with the savings on all the food you don't eat anymore. :)

To sum it up I eat healthier and burn more energy and have a better balance, making me feel healthier as well with less bowel problems etc. And I smell better when I sweat too. :)

It is something that I will have to keep up. 8 years ago I got myself down to 78kg the same way. But I fell back in the old traditions.

It sucks that many of my pants drop off my azz now and all shirts and pullovers look to big. :)
