At least we are on a new page. That banana was starting to drive me crazy. I have picked up a bit and all the comments are still favorable. May make it above five yet. I was around 4.2 last night. I haven't voted yet but did take a quick look around and think I have very good light. I usually have a pretty good idea where I will fall (average, slight above average, suckage) but so far this is lower than I expected. Maybe because it is different from most of the other entries. Still time and lots of entries for voters to get through.

My first (received) vote was a 2, yes a 2. I have climbed to a 5.15 so far. I expected my sub to be around a 5.5, so I have a hump to get over.

haha...it's funny I showed my team my three choices for this challenge. They chose one...but I was so in love with another...that I entered it. And it's been a love - hate relationship. some people love it...and some people completely hate it. I already got a favorite on it and I already got a comment where some one hated it.

Actually the one person who commented that they didn't like it...stated that they hate these type of shots (referring to the type of shot i took), but were going to try to put their biases aside while commenting and voting...no offense to the commenter, but when you start a comment like that, more than likely you didn't put your bias aside. BUT then again, they weren't the only person to hate it (based on my score).

But I still love the shot!!!!!

lol well hey, do we ever put our biases aside really? Perhaps the commentor just made the "mistake" of being honest about it. ;) It's good that you love it, that's what really matters.

Truckin right along. That first 50 seemed like a breeze last night... of course I did have insomnia and it was 3 am... and I was avoiding homework that I have to go do right now.

More comments later!

Gained a full 0.50 in my image's average over the past 12 hours. I think that's remarkable, yet a bit strange. I'm not a "people" photographer, but I want to improve my skills in that area. I like my portrait of a person. I'm doing okay at around x.xxxx. I'll take whatever score I get as "constructive criticism", as long as it's a fair and objective vote. Who are those people who vote so low in the first 8 hours of most challenges? Enquiring minds want to know! (I don't need to know, as long as the SC knows!)

I have finished voting. I gave two "10" votes and seven "9" votes and congratulated those photographers on their efforts. Some really great and wonderful images in this challenge. Unfortunately, there are a lot of low quality, off topic images submitted, which wastes everyone's time. Is there no penalty for "apparently" intentional "DNMC" images?

Just curious...how do you know an image is intentional DNMC. I actually didn't see a DNMC image...Well except for a couple of Landscapes that a way out of the box...and one that was just not even close.

Their punishment is a low score though.

I used every trick in the book using only natural light.

For those that commented on this, this is for your eyes only.

I could of pulled out the HMI's. I could of put 1/4, no 1/2 CTB on a tungsten lamp.

I could of pulled out a 20 KW Zenon to improve on the "catch light".

I did not.

I just used good ol' fashion silk to soften the subject because it was 1 PM in the afternoon. I used a good ol' school non-bleach 4x4 bounce. And I used a good ol' fashion non- descrip bg.

Of course I used the PS CS2 platform to enhance the image.

SSSSOOOO, if you think you know lighting, and you think my image is not natural. You have another thing coming.
