Hi, I just thought I'd let you know that I just recieved an email from Lloyds TSB.

I got suspicious because I don't have a Lloyds TSB account. The website they send you to and the email it is sent from look genuine enough, but if you right click one of the images you can see this as the URL.
//online.lloydstsb.co.uk@www.newmonc.com/l/applypassword.php
This means the real location isnt Lloyds TSB at all, it is newmonc.com. I'm worried that typing in information (including password) will send it to hackers who will use it to get into your bank account.
I have contacted Lloyds TSB on this issue, but I thought I would warn anyone here who might also get the email.
I'm not 100% sure that it's a scam, but it seems highly suspicious.

I would say its definitely a scam, the really Lloyds login page is
https://online.lloydstsb.co.uk/customer.ibc
the one you were sent to is
//online.lloydstsb.co.uk
note the absence of the S in the url this means that the server is not a secure server, I don't believe any bank would ask you to send your details over an insecure connection. |

There was a similar scam going on with Barclays a while back. If in doubt ring them up if your a Lloyds customer.

This is, without a doubt a scam. If you type in the end of the line:
//www.newmonc.com/l/applypassword.php
this takes you to the same page and as someone has already mentioned, it is not a secure server. On checking who the domain name 'newmonc.com' is registered to, you get:
Registrant:
ink, devil (FUQESUQVOD)
3311 west ave j2
LANCASTER, CA 93536
US
whereas lloyds TSB's domain name is registered as:
Registrant:
Lloyds TSB Group Plc
Trading As: Lloyds TSB Bank Plc
Website spamming is very common and very easy to do but can easily fool people who don't know about it. Banks always say they will NEVER ask for security details either over the phone or in emails and the safest way to log in to online banking accounts is either to type in the address manually or use your favourites (if it's in).
