What do these numbers actually mean when all you have to do is hit the refresh button (in Firefox) to change them?

Hmm, they aren't incrementing for me by tapping on refresh.

edit: profile views isn't, I see image views does. But I don't stare at my own images so I guess I never reeally noticed.

Are you trying it on your own or someone else's? It doesn't work on my own.

My own profile, someone else's image. It would be a nightmare to try and capture unique impressions on each image rather than just ticking the count up each time a request is made for it.

The reason that got me wondering was in a side challenge thread the other day, someone said she had gotten over 650 views in a week for one of her images and was quite surprised. Most of the images for this particular challenge (floral) are generating well under 100 views.

Maybe she put it in the nude gallery?

I just see the potential for some abuse. You could really play with someone's mind by inflating their numbers.

There was one phallic image last week, but it wasn't hers.

I got 106 views on a shot of a dog yesterday within a half hour of posting it. Sometimes it happens. I figure people IM or email the link around and it gets a quick burst of views as it spreads. Never know what people will get really excited about.
