Does anyone on DP have Photoshop CS3? Is it worth the upgrade? If so, why? Thanks a lot.

It has some very nice features not found in CS2. I'm glad I got it.
The two I use the most are:
Black & White (allows you to increase/decrease brightness on all the different colors after converting to b&W)
Exposure/Gamma correction
The history holds more steps so you can go back further (good for those of us that don't use layers that often), and curves has more capabilites but I haven't figured them out yet (and you can use it like in CS2). |

CS3 is a much bigger upgrade from CS2, than CS2 was from CS. I think the new features are definitely worth it. Plus, ACR 4.1 is *really* nice compared to the ACR that came with CS or CS2. Added bonus. :-)

If you can get it with the educational discount, it's probably worth it. Otherwise, I'm not convinced it's a huge step up from CS2. Upgrading from PS7 on the other hand, like I did, makes it amazing :-)

| A guarded maybe from me. They've done some very nice things with Bridge but this is also from what I've experienced (and it would seem I'm not alone after reading the Adobe forums) one of the buggiest releases they've ever done. Other upgrades have gone without a hitch for me but this time I've had numerous issues to deal with. Nothing I would call a deal breaker but annoyances that have made me not want to uninstall CS2. Unless you're getting a discount or your work is paying for it I would think long and hard about it or just wait until the next version. |

| For me it was worth it just for the enhanced capabilities with black and white conversions. It does have issues - more of a memory hog, some paths are incorrect (you have to correct them to get to duotones, for instance), and it ain't cheap, but I figure I get my money's worth out of it. |

| I don't know what the pricing is like in the rest of the world but I assume it's similar. Here (in Australia) the student price of $299 for the design standard suite. And I'm still technically a student (must finish that degree one day). At that price I'm seriously considering it. |

This is my take.
The features are worth it if you don't already have CS2. If you do already have it, it's nice to have, but not required unless there are new features that you find that you just have to have.
That said, I'm still glad I have it. |

| I got a copy of it on release and have since deleted cs2 (I got a whole new install of cs3) There are little things about it that I like and somethings I dont (and the things i dont, I can probably change in the menu) |

| I haven't been using CS3 that long, but to be honest, I can hardly tell a difference. Definately not worth the upgrade. Mind you, I don't do THAT much editing. |

| I've got PS 7, and from what I've seen of CS3, it makes PS 7 look like Elements. |

The Black and White adjustment layer makes all the conversion methods irrelevant :-) It simply rocks.
Ofcourse if ya really like B&W work and shoot RAW ACR 4.1 let's ya go B&W straight from RAW.
So, if you're a big B&W fan. It's definitely worth it.

Here are my .02 so far
- faster to load than CS2
- ease in collapsing / expanding the tools (allows you to have more editing space)
- camera raw 4.1 is GREAT and it ROCKS! (allows direct editing of RAW)
- never have compatibility issues with my atns, filters, etc.
And you are upgrading from what? ^_^
