Anybody watch the second episode?

I liked both of the challenges. Some of the animal shots were very good. How Piper went 15 minutes without getting a single photo baffles me. I thought she would be the one to leave tonight. Although Ivan getting dominated by Dean seemed to hurt him worse than Piper's incompetence. If he's not going to be able to assert his vision, there's no point in him being on the show.

And I loved the challenge with the kids. The teams planning a "love triangle" theme or planning on naked models was hilarious once the kids came crashing into the room. :)

Piper stayed because she at least tried to stand up for herself and take her own shot.

I agree but if she doesn't step up her game she will be the next one to go.

Not necessarily, I believe that the people that bring the best ratings for the show will stay. Dean and Piper battling it out are what people want to see.

finally got a hold of ep.1 (don't ask ;-) )
Dean needs to practice his peopleskills :-D

If I were in Pipers group I would've yelled "SHUT UPP!!!" after 5 minutes of her rambling. I don't like her.

The blond guy is way too full of himself as being an 'edgy' photographer. Ivan is sweet but needs to be a little more assertive.

I like the redhead with the big tattoos :-D

Haven't seen episode 2 yet, but had to turn the volume down in episode 1 because I was going nuts listening to piper.

Piper is MUCH quieter in episode two. But then again, she really had no other choice but to be. :)

Poor Ivan. (or E-von or was it E-van?) I swear they must have said his name like every different way possible. I still don't know which way was right.

Dean is staying true to his a$$hole casting, that's for sure. I'm pretty sure he's the best shooter there, though :-) I doubt it will be enough to carry him through. If he deals with clients, art directors, editors, and models that way in the real world he won't have much of a career, unless he's just so damned brilliant he can't be ignored.

Honestly, I love this show - but I wonder how trained these people are. Some of them are so young, so under trained, so shy.... I wonder how they chose the cast. If they have a season 2 - I'm on it.

BTW: All my energy is praying for Piper to go home - so rude to the others and not at all that talented IMO

I've pretty much had it with Piper also. I know that we are only seeing what the producers want us to see but I just don't think she has any people skills. I also believe that most of them don't have many photography skills also.

I know there are a lot of people in DPC that can come up with better images but it appears that they are only given 15 minutes to get their shot. That isn't much time especially when you're working with animals and children.

I also believe that the best photographers that DPC has to offer would also have a difficult time due to the severe time constraints. JMO

For sure. And also bear in mind they clearly did not choose this field to get the 10 "best" photographers, or the 10 "strongest" candidates. Reality shows never do that. They are choosing people who WILL have friction, who WILL mess up, who WILL make "good television" — and people tune intot hese shows to watch screw-ups, failures, backstabbing, you name it.

Dean buddy "Rule Number One" is there is no rule number one. But I like you better than piper. :-P

I am disappointed in the fact that everything is setup and all they have to do is point and shoot. I mean COME ON! I would hope that they have some more technical challenges in the future.

Like...Here are two lights a reflector, camera, 85mm 1.4 and a model. Shoot in this location and you have 2 hours to setup, shoot, edit and print 5 shots.

That would test their metal.

It's about time some one mentioned an OXYMORON in this thread.

After all, the whole idea of a "Reality Show" is a play on words.

Started this thread thinking that, "hmmmm....give the show a chance."

Today, I am that guy who looks at this show as a piece of crap, thrown together, mindless, get a life waste of time.

Reality? Who's reality? Show? I've seen enough, don't show me any more.

Good television is not this "show". It's just another cookie cutter, formatted, sell that toasted cereal, piece of long stringy poo. Who cares?

I get more reality from the DPC forums than this stupid show.

Back to MY reality. The strike and where do I get a job.

Somehow I doubt it. America isn't interested in the fact that cameras aren't able to make those decisions. They only want to see who points the camera the best. Afterall, it gives THEM hope that they too can do this.

Eek... I wonder what that means for us who ARE thinking "Hey, maybe I really CAN do this!"

Irregardless, I've been finding the show quite educational, even if only in the 'OMG, I can't believe a supposed PRO did that!' Of course, it's always easy to do things better on this side of the screen....

Mind you, they aren't supposed PROs, they are a mix of recently graduated students and self-taught hopefuls.

The general industry reaction is inline with what you see here, from what I've read. That it's a cookie cutter reality show with very little to do with photography in general or fashion photography in particular.

Well, reading their bios and from their little intros on the show, they sure did sound like they were making some earnings, except two or three of them, as I recall. In either case, they're a lot closer to pro than I am - and the recent grads were accepted into schools, where I wasn't. It's pretty reassuring so far to me.

And when it comes to cheese, you guys are being silly! Don't you know they save the good stuff for later in the season?
