Cool! Got it set to be recorded!

Thanks for the update. I've been looking all over for 'Click!' and thought they might have cancelled it. I'll tune in tonight...

Did anyone else off this site make it besides Dean??

I don't think so. I hope he comes back to the site after the show. It would be cool if he would share some his experiences on the show.

Well, the tasks sure aren't easy, but I like them. I thought it'd be lamer, but it's not bad. Half way through...

Quote of the show and it's not even over yet...

"How do I zoom out?" (whilst on a beautiful yacht, VS model & all the toys necessary for a great shoot)

I think it's amusing the mentor guy is harping on hand-picking them for talent when it's quite clear that the contestants, while obviously talented, were hand-picked for maximum drama and token diversity. Because really, how exciting would it be to watch a bunch of laid-back lily-white and not necessarily attractive photographers who actually get along? Ahh, reality shows, gotta love them!

Yeah, that made me giggle. "It's a fixed lens honey" :)

I'll watch it. It's as entertaining as most of the rest and I can pick up some stuff.

Was thinking the same thing, but at the same time it's somewhat interesting listening to some of the criticism or seeing the setups, etc..

Oh, I definitely agree. Some of it seems so basic to me that I can't imagine that these people who are supposed to be professionals (according to their bios) didn't know this stuff beforehand. Seriously, watch your backgrounds? Don't have stuff sprouting from your models' heads? Don't amputate body parts? And "how do you zoom out"?? Oy...

Of course it's easy to critique from my cozy spot on the sofa. Reality is that I would have been too sick to do much more than weakly raise my camera and click once before laying down on the deck to cry.

Yeah, you read their bios and most of them sound like they have some professional experience, shooting Marilyn Mansons album cover, photographer for the Warped tour?? But yet, the intro to the show says something about "amateur photographers". Whatever, I'm still watching it. :)

Right from the get-go our boy Dean is being cast in the a$$hole role: harsh, abrasive, doesn't work well with others, is the rap on him. From what I could see of the portfolios (they only gave us glimpses) he's the best photographer. Be interesting to see how long he lasts; as a rule, the typecast jerks get bounced by mid-series...

They did the photo shoot for the "5 page spread", and they showed us the 5 hand-picked images from each team, and I have to say I wasn't the least impressed with all but two of those shots.

Yep, every reality series has to have its abrasive jerk, and they're doing their best to make Dean that guy. He's got tons of talent, I hope he lasts a good while. I'm not a reality TV fan, but I'll try to remember to watch this every week.

Watching the show now. Your right Robert, he is being cast as the bad boy. Did you hear his comment when they were looking at the photo spread. Dean says, " Could someone turn the page so I don't have too."

Although they do a lot of cutting & editing to make someone bad/dramatic/evil, etc.. it can't entirely create that persona, the actual person still needs to contribute to that image ;)

I remember several years ago, noting something that Kelly from Survivor: Africa said in the post-finale interview show. She said that going in, she was very aware that the producers edit every girl to be a slut or an engenue, and she wanted to be neither. And when she fit into neither for editing purposes, they instead concentrated on making her look crazy and bitchy. It is all in the editing. Everyone has a role for which they were cast, whether or not they know it, and when you're filmed 24/7 for 45 minutes or so of material, it's all too easy to pick the moments that suit you and leave anything that contradicts your script on the cutting room floor.

I guess I don't know the whole story. I did see the show and it was interesting but are they using their own equipment or was it provided? It appears they are all using the same type of equipment.

I would think that if these are professional phototographers, they would want to use their own equipment with which they are most familiar.

How cool is this! I don't think I can watch here in Holland so I'll be looking for it in the deep dark bowels of the internet ;-)

Is Dean a DPC-er? and so, which one is he, and what is his username here?

He goes by Deeriot, but it looks like he registered the same day he posted in this thread and hasn't really posted since. But he also said he had to drop out for awhile because of the confidentiality of the show, or something like that. Hopefully, he'll come back and share.

Of course there's a lot of editing, but I think you missed my point. Participants still own everything that comes out of their mouth, sure you can edit it to make it more dramatic, etc. but there are things that one person said in this show which another would never say in a 100 years. You saying that it is all editing is like having the editors record over / lipsync some crazy phrases which a contestant never even said.

Yeah, I'm sure she was selected to be on the show for her photography skills.

And, I think you missed my point; I am proud to be free, but how do I zoom out? I am who I am, not confined by any branding.

Obviously, that is not an actual quote of yours, but every word in it was said by you, either in this thread or in one of your last ten. :)

Whilst I agree with you in general principle, people say what they say, I think it is obvious that if you are recording every word that is said by someone over the course of days/weeks, then "innocently" drop it somewhere where the context has completely changed, it becomes much stronger.

I'm reminded of something I saw one time where they were interviewing people on the streets. Ask person A one question, then let person B answer. However, person B was asked a completely different question, so now the answer, while it appears to "fit," wasn't what person B would have said in that context at all.

Kinda like the game MadLibs.

In any case, the judge and the model BOTH had pointed things to say to Dean about his people skills, so there's presumably some validity in it... The real point being, he was CAST as the a$$hole from the beginning, almost certainly because the casting people recognized his remarkable combination of aggressiveness and photographic skills :-)

I have to agree with Robert on this. They made it a point to let the viewers see his (so called) "personality" by putting emphasis on things he said and ever is reaction when he was not called as a leader in last night episode. I feel he will be the center of attention during weeks to come and the way they have cast him will cause people to either like him or hate him, nothing in between.

To get away from Dean for a bit, you can't tell me that the 'selection" of "team leaders" was not done with an eye towards failure; the two they picked as team leaders are two of the LEAST likely leaders in the bunch, IMO. And this isn't the first show I've seen this happen on...

And another topic not specifically Dean related, is anyone in Canada able to watch this? I can't find it available anywhere up here.
