I certainly learned a lot from doing this for her....
Better posing for the groups, the need to be more in control of the photos, need for better glass..... etc

All the "weekend photogs" with "good cameras" like to get in there and get in the way :P

Good thing I was just doing this as a favor for a friend :D

Add: would have been wonderful to have a back up camera with another lens on it so I could just change cameras instead of changing lenses so much.

Hi Michelle, I went looking through the images on your site. Well done. You've got a really nice collection of images. Very consistent in quality. And very good at that. You're right, weddings aren't so scary, and each one you do helps give you added confidence. Some times you, the photographer, have to take control and run the show. Some times they'll have a wedding coordinator or a DJ or someone that will do it for you. They're all different. And that's what makes them fun!

Thanks for sharing! :-)

Congrats on the first wedding!! I have mine on Saturday. I went through your images and they look great! I'm sure the B/G will be very pleased.

I just looked through your wedding portfolio and the photos are very nice. I too have been asked to take photos of a wedding, it will take place in front of the ocean in early evening. I noticed you took some photos in front of a body of water. Did you use fill flash? I'm worried that the camera will meter on the water and the bridal party will be in shadow. It did not seem to be a problem in your shots.

I used fill flash on just about every shot... I made sure to meter off of the brides dress... the exposures all came out pretty well... only minor tweeking needed. Good luck! It was fun!

ETA... thanks to everyone for looking!!!

I do a lot of sports photography, both portrait and action, and with the rising availability of digital cameras, with the cost of a "good" camera dropping greatly, every parent has one and knows how to do your job better then you (in their unhumble opinions)

My mom (who owns the company) even had a guy come up to her at a job the other day, look at her paperwork, announce that he could do this too, and then had the balls to ask her where she gets her stuff processed at (which she told him "figure it out for yourself, like I did 15 years ago when I started my BUSINESS")

What I like even better is when you are shooting a portrait, and the parent is behind you shooting the same portrait (even better is when they are using a cellphone cam to do it). I am 1 irritating parent away from making t-shirts with the company name on the front and something to the extent of "WE DONT SHOW UP AT YOUR OFFICE, NOW STAY OUT OF OURS"
