sweet!

Too bad they didn't have more hype for this thing. I really haven't heard that much about it.

I hear they are sweet, but........missing alot of basics, like flash, IM, GPS....also very slow?

iPhone? Nope never heard of it. You'd think Apple would have at least advertised it a little.

There's always the poop brown Zune. Plenty of those on the shelves.

I looked on EBAY tonight to see how crazy the prices would be after the initial release.

They are priced not too much above retail...100 bucks maybe.

congrats, jeff! i can't wait to get mine! i think the people who don't want it are the people who haven't played with one yet... or the technophobes. but they're so user friendly and fun and functional... sure, some things are missing, but so many MORE things are included and great about it... did i mention i can't wait!!? :)

I will probably get to one in a year or two, after it is upgraded, more bugs worked out, has (real) GPS (which I am sure it has by going through the phone service---almost all phones do now), and CHEAPER.

They really impress me, but I can't afford one. Well, I can afford one, but I just have other things I's rather spend the money on right now. But perhaps one day I'll get one. Maybe the second generation model.

Post a Picture of it!!

Funny thing is, I replaced my mobile phone yesterday (it was over three years old and was becoming unreliable). I'm not sure when the iphone is being released in Japan and I don't really care; I just need something relatively simple.
My new phone has a better camera in it than the last one (the camera stopped working ages ago) ... it even has 2. omega pixels. I guess omega pixels are the latest in technology. ;-Þ

If anyone else wants one, you can get one here.:P

I'd rather have a cheap phone and a nice lens/flash...if I had the money to spend though, I'd get an iphone. They are definitely neat, but I also thought PDA's were neat and mine sits beside my PC off...my ipod sat in it's box for a year (Never even opened it) because I found my 256mb iriver player I thought I lost...I wish I could sell all of it and get myself a nice new lens...

My poop brown zune works nicely for watching full movies, podcasts, music or what ever. I didn't think I'd use the FM Receiver much but have found if use it quite regularly.

Back on topic...

As to the IPhone with all new toys wait for the second generation. Let them flood the market and get the bugs out. Price will come down and there will be plenty of these (right next to the poop brown zunes :) ) available in a few months.

The thing about Apple...what other product do they make that has a flash drive built in it? But I agree with you that it should have included GPS and IM, at least.

My take on the iPhone is I love it...I'm just not going to get one now. Wait until the 2nd or 3rd generations come out. You all should know how the company works...just think not but 6 or 7 years ago, the 1st generation iPod came out now we're already on the 6th generation or so. They update them fast.

As far as them being slow...it's because they operate on AT&T's EDGE system which is a whole heck of a lot slower than the 3G system. I think Apple decided to do this because more cities in the USA operate under EDGE than 3G (I think it's like 16,000 to 130 or something like that). This should be updated with the 2nd gen iPhone, hopefully.

Also, remember, for those of you who really can't wait to get one. 700mb or the 4gb hard drive is taken up already by the operating system. And, you're paying for the phone out right. i.e. no discount because you're getting a new 2-year contract which will end up costing you a minimum of $1400 in those 2 years.

And by the way...check out those ebay prices on the 8gb phones now. These are worse than when the next-gen game systems came out.

So, in my opinion, wait for the next version to come out in 6-months to a year.

Have to say I hated my ipod - Never used it. But this thing is so user friendly it's impossible not to like. All my info was in there in less than 3 minutes of hooking it up. I will really only use it for a phone and browsing etc - May use the ipod now that it's in there on the planes etc.
The controls are amazing and as for slow? Downloading you mean? Not found that yet.....
ONE VERY BAD DRAWBACK - I can now keep hitting the "update" button more....aggghhhhhh!!

Two (2) things have to happen for me before I purchase the phone.

1= Verizon has to be a carrier.

2= Phone itself has to be a bit less fragile.

And I don't even own a cell-phone. Sometimes I think the world is passing me by.

I do like the quiet times riding in my car with only the wind and the engines rumble for companionship.

Bet one of those iphones would be a lot of fun though.

Alas - Sometimes I wish i didn't have a cell phone - I would last about 5 mins in my job though without!

The Apple iPod Nano and Shuffle both have built-in flash drives. The iPhone already has IM (iChat is built-in and works with AIM) and GPS (sort of) through the phone service itself, which enables the mapping features.

I guess I didn't even think about iChat...well, takes care of that.

I think what he meant as a "flash drive" was removable media. i.e. and "SD Disk" or CF card or something of that nature...
