This is my grandma at her 95th birthday. I do some photoshop, but not enough to know how to get the glare off her glasses. She is not very fond of having her photo taken because she says she's too old looking. I think she is the most beautiful 95 year old in the world. Can any of you guys help me with the glass glare. This was the best shot I got of her. The ones where she was looking at the camera she would not smile, so this is just a candid of her watching her great-great (yes, that's two greats) grandchildren learning to walk.

Do you have the full size photo avail?
06/28/2007 04:58:17 PM · #3
Thats tricky, the glare is covering up a lot of the eyes, not really enough information left to clone it out... Hm.

Maybe theres more sources for cloning for the full sized image.

I'd like to give it a try - can you make the full-size file available?

Real quick and dirty 5 minute edit... I did a little to save the eyes but can do more. Let me know if you like this direction and I can do some more this evening.

Full size avail if you want it.... I can also take out the background if ya want...

here is my attempt - a bit rough, but I selected her left eye, flipped it horizontally and rotated and pasted it over her right eye. Then a bit of history brush. could be a lot cleaner with more effort and larger file

edit: OOPS! accidently posted someone else's version - this one is my try at it!

You guys are so awesome! I go make dinner for my family, come back, and wallah, awesome edits to my all time favorite photo of my all time favorite person. What a treasure. I love the black and white and the color as well. I thought I did upload the full size version, so I will have to figure out how to do that. I just uploaded it as is, without shrinking it at all.
My email is buckman@rose.net to receive the full size edits.
I cannot thank you all enough. Everyone is going to be so happy to see this one.

I didn't even think about taking out that ugly background. That would be awesome if you could do that.
I also love how the black and white one has to edges darkened. Is that called a vinette?

Oh man, I just had to laugh, I just opened the full size one that fotoman posted and realize now that I can see myself in her glasses.

You did upload it... if ya look under the photo to the left it has a link to the full-sized shot. I guess it was over-looked by everyone.

ok, I was thinking I did. I would have not figured that out either.
I just knew I didn't shrink it, but wasn't sure if DPC did that automatically like some websites do.

I've been working on it, but I guess you don't need my poor attempt now. Ah well, good practice, at least :D
