Are you talking about $1000 for one album? What about parents' albums?How many pictures do you put on a page? I did a court house wedding, bought an 8x8 album (20 sides) and put one 5x7 on each page.

Number of images in the album - old school was 1 to 3 a page, but with digital albums the average is more like 3.5/page or side. So charge for each image as well, perhaps $4.
SO a 12x12 30 side album with 105 prints ...
$110 times 2.5 = $275
30 sides at $5 ea, doubled is $300
105 images at $4 each is $420.
That adds up to $995. Your material cost is $260 or so.
You may be able to get twice this price - depends on your market, sales skills, etc.
I did it this was as I sell 4 'brands' of albums and several models in each brand, and each one of those has a dozen sizes...so when I had to quote a price on an 8x10 or 10x10 or 12x12 album the work involved was the same, but the materials cost varied, as did the perceived value in the consumers mind - but I needed some way to make sense of it and this worked for me.
I sell a good many Art Leather iMount deluxe in 8x10 but have started pushing larger (10x10, 12x12) as well as their Cache' line. A cache' book's cost is $50-75 more than an iMount but there are more options (and all options cost extra of course) and I can get 50% more for these books - same work for more profit, and a nicer product. |
