As everyone already knows (and hates me for), we missed rollover last night. I'll save you any excuses and just tell you that I stupidly went to bed early last night (~9:30) feeling confident that the rollover script would run smoothly. I even had a dream that I received a text message from someone telling me that it failed.

Typically the site would be shut down during rollover, and as a result, any error would leave the site shut down until morning where I could then resolve the eror, and rerun the script. This situation is different in that the site didn't ever get shut down, and between the two open challenges, 15 new entries have come in since midnight.

Rather than rollover now, we're going to extend the deadline until tonight. I'll get this week's challenges scheduled shortly, but know that if you're submitting to `Transitions II` or `Pure...`, you won't be able to submit today's NEW challenges until Transitions and Pure rollover tonight (because of there will be 4 Exclusive challenges).

I'm glad my bad call could be the catalyst that united the community! :) I'll be reading through the massive/previously-linked thread to enjoy all the haikus, poems, and other creative gems.

Yay it's Langdon!
Who hates you? We're all love and joy and bonding here!

Paragraph 3 of your post is not making clear sense to me, however. I've read it and still can't quite parse the details>
1. Are people going to be allowed to submit until midnight on "transitions " and "pure"?
2. So those won't be going into voting until later, right?
3. Will the new challenges be announced soon or after midnight?

Thanks.

Hey Langdon! Good morning :-) Nah, we all don't hate ya. To be honest, I was starting to get just slightly worried about you, I'm glad to hear that you and the site are ok, and no serious problems. :-)

Yeah, it was nice not hearing all the bitchin' about trolls, low scores, challenge results, etc. ,,,, everbuddy just kind of stopped worrying about all the normal routine and had fun :-)

I was a little bummed that folks stopped working on the pyramid :-P

So voting continues on "Why" and "Painting with light"?
06/13/2007 08:20:40 AM · #22
And now the rest of the story...

The SC peeked at my entry for "Transitions," and saw that it had potentially disturbing ramifications because it's the awesomeist image ever submitted to DPC, and could literally break the voting scripts and screw up 5 years worth of stats.

I can't imagine the scheming that must be going on right now.

Yes, awesomeist.
