Wow - I am shocked by the number of people who prefer my out take to the one submitted.
People seem to love this pic...

It's also the one that made the front of the papers -

But I still prefer the one I entered just because it's a little more artistic - It really is great knowledge though to see what people think.
I was very lucky to still get a blue with my entry.

No reason. I just liked the high key on it. When I get a chance I'll upload the color version.

I really like this one - Great sharpness and conversion. I like her look and angle. Really striking image. Nice.

I really liked your entry...but, I found the long shadow distracting. The out take is really cool...I find myself liking it a bit more.

I got my first DQ for some over zealous PP work. I'm okay with that. I got a lot of comments that people didn't know what it was a picture of. So here is the original, then what I submitted first, then a resubmit after I did some more work that ultimately led to the DQ.

I didn't like the way the background was drawing attention away from the face in the tree. So I used a radial blur to wipe it out, which was the effect I wanted, it just wasn't legal.

It's one of my favorite photos because the whole thing was prompted by the tree and how it spoke to me, as opposed to a created image in response to a challenge goal. I would appreciate any comments.

Not really an outtake, but it is what I would have entered had my computer AND Photoshop quit working on the final day to enter!
