I wish I could be happy she's going back to jail, but I know it means that for the next month and a half, the evening news will begin with "Day 27 of Paris in Jail". I think there are real things we could all focus on and this much attention for some ditzy drunk driver distracts the nation from some real and serious issues.

I would have appluaded the judge more if a gag order had been issued and nothing about this case was released to the press again.

That would have been a good idea too, because then she would know that her exploits would not get her more attention. She is going to join a gang, or stab somebody just for the attention she will get. I swear she is going on 11 years old.

to let her out that way DID erode the public confidence in the justice system. I'm beyond elated for the people and courts of California that she went back to jail. Good for Judge Sauer for upholding the judicial system and showing that things ain't perfect, but even Paris Hilton has to go to jail!

I am still a little unsure that her being let out early wasn't because a sheriff was on the take. He definitely overstepped his authority.

He may still be held in contempt of court.

There is a really small article on the bbc website about it, most news is about the G8 summit (just as well since its real news.) There was a poll though that made me laugh.

Should Paris Hilton serve her jail sentence
yes - 94.03%
no - 4.04%
don't know - 1.93%

It totally was reminding me of the OJ White Bronco incident. The TV helicopters were filming the cop car leaving from the air. Crazy.

Ok, according to my new addiction, the gossip site, //www.laineygossip.com, her medical condition was in fact, a very very very severe flare up of herpes (which she has been confirmed to have according to prescription bottles found in her abandoned storage for herpes medication bearing her name on it..) and it burned so much that she couldn't stand it and she went nuts in her cell. This is, of course, totally unconfirmed, and now I am sure I am dumber for having shared it, but you guys are my friends, and what is a good friendship without a little juicy gossip!

Um, yes. I was kidding. Insane-hyper-circus would be about right for that episode, I think.

So her example to young people .... get drunk numerous times, put other lives in jeopardy, ignore legal orders, pay for the best lawyers, and when convicted and put in jail .... cry, sob and say the food makes you sick, keep crying and they will let you out. I think it's about time the judge came forward again and put her back in. Now I hope here crying game keeps her there longer since that is definately not "good behaviour" So the lesson to young people ... do the crime and cry a lot, daddy will pay someone to get you out. She needs general population for the full 45 days.
.
Biggest problem, she'll come out richer than when she went in. That was proved last year when Martha's wealth increased termendously while in prison due to the publicity. Parish should be thankful getting all this free advertisement.
